IPHONE owners are set to gain a new AI-powered photo editing tool that can wipe people and objects from photos as if they were never there.

Apple Intelligence - the iPhone maker's new AI system - is bringing a raft of new features to iPhones and iPads in iOS 18.

It's going to make Siri more like ChatGPT - much to Elon Musk's dismay - and create custom emoji, with a tool called Genmoji.

The new AI boost will also pave the way for a new photo tool called Clean Up - which is Apple's version of Google's Magic Eraser.

Once iPhone owners have snapped a picture, they can open up the Photos app, click on the pic and then circle or highlight the person or object they want to remove.

The Clean Up tool can remove photo bombers, and elements that make the image less aesthetically pleasing.

AI will then come in and make that edit unnoticeable - although sometimes these edits can look slightly obvious.

SIRI PHOTO BOOST

A smarter Siri will offer another photo boost to iPhone owners.

The voice assistant turned AI bot will be able to take hundreds actions inside apps on your behalf.

One example Apple gave was finding photos for you based on voice requests.

You can say something like 'Show me my photos of Stacey in New York wearing her pink coat' - and Siri will find it.

Next you could say: 'Make this photo pop' - and Siri will enhance it visually using Apple's in-app editing tools.

Siri could even find a photo of your driving licence or passport in the sea of thousands of snaps and videos, according to Apple.

The little digital helper can go one step further, extracting your passport number to plug into a flight booking form in Safari.
