Joe Biden was seen embracing Hunter Biden after the president's son was convicted on criminal gun charges.

The president's only surviving son has been convicted on all three counts involving the possession of an illicit firearm purchased in October 2018, lying to a federally licensed gun seller and falsifying information on the application form related to his history of drug abuse.

Hunter Biden could face up to 25 years in prison after the conviction, though Biden said the family planned to appeal the verdict. A sentencing hearing is not yet scheduled, though it could come in October, weeks before his father faces off with Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

Following the conviction, Biden was seen hugs his son Hunter Biden upon arrival at Delaware Air National Guard Base in New Castle, Delaware, as he travelled to Wilmington. Biden was also seen kissing his grandson Beau as Beau's parents Hunter and Hunter's wife Melissa Cohen Biden looked on.

Following the conviction, Biden said that he was standing by his son, and is proud of him after he was convicted to three felonies related to a gun purchase in 2018. He said: "As I said last week, I am the President, but I am also a Dad," he said in a statement hours before his speech. Jill and I love our son, and we are proud of the man he is today.

"So many families who have had loved ones battle addiction understand the feeling of pride seeing someone you love come out the other side and be so strong and resilient in recovery. As I said last week, I will accept the outcome of this case and will continue to respect the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal.

"Jill and I will always be there for Hunter and the rest of our family with our love and support. Nothing will ever change that." Biden's step-mother, Jill, was a constant presence at the trial, though missed the reading of the verdict. The jury made their minds up quickly, deciding Biden was guilty after just three hours of deliberation.

Hunter who is "disappointed" by the unexpected outcome released a statement, "I am more grateful today for the love and support I experienced this last week from Melissa, my family, my friends, and my community than I am disappointed by the outcome."

He has been sober from the "throes of drug abuse" addiction back in 2018 said, "Recovery is possible by the grace of God, and I am blessed to experience that gift one day at a time."

This year's November 5 election will witness a pair of criminal convictions - Hunter's and Donald Trump, who has been found on 34 counts related to falsifying business records in $130,000 payment case made to porn star, Stormy Daniels.
