Many of us are guilty of judging the fashion choices of others, but would you let this take control of your life?
One man confessed to questioning an entire relationship over his partner's clothing obsession - though, you may be shocked by the reason why. Before laying out his concerns, the '37-year-old' pre-warned it would probably sound like some huge joke.
He's been with his girlfriend, 31, for two years and everything appeared to be going well, until one day she brought home some thrifted clothes. "So, she is younger than me, Gen Z, and she only wears thrifted clothes," he explained in an anonymous Reddit post.
"That's how this all started. She came home with jean shorts one day and they were really big. Like past her knees and well, they look like something that my high school bully used to wear. Like exactly. The spitting image. So I thought well, it's kooky and she is a unique dresser so I thought whatever, right? She has lots of clothes. No. She wore them eight days straight."
Although the 'jorts' didn't smell, he said they were 'definitely getting close and looked dingy'. But this wasn't even the worst part, as he claimed they give him 'PTSD flashbacks'. He said: "This entire time I am not able to look at her without having vivid PTSD flashbacks of high school football players in 2000s era light blue jorts mocking me in front of my peers.
Bloke who ate 124 kebabs in 31 days says it left him 'psychologically' damaged"She now has five different pairs and they all trigger me. I miss seeing the contours of her legs and ass. All I see is jort. We've been together for two years and I feel like this might be the end."
The nameless man claimed their sex life has now 'completely tanked' all thanks to the 'jorts', but he's unsure how to navigate the issue. He said: "I don't feel like I can talk to her about this. She's so into fashion and she's obsessed with her new jorts and I can't take that away from her."
Unsurprisingly, this anonymous confession soon racked up plenty of comments on the platform, with many users suggesting his PTSD trigger is quite concerning. One wrote: "Talk to your girlfriend but I think you need therapy if you’re getting PTSD from jorts lol".
Another soon added: "I don't have much useful advice, I just want to point out that Gen Z is aged 12-27. 31 is still solidly millennial.
"Seriously though, you can tell her you have past trauma related to jorts. It might sound silly but once she realises you're serious I'm sure she'll be willing to at the very least compromise and wear them less often."
