TikTok is a treasure trove for beauty tips, tricks and affordable hacks – and one particular piece of advice has grabbed the attention of avid #beautytok scrollers: how to prevent thigh chafing in warm weather, and without spending a penny.

While the best anti-chafing creams and powders are certainly a great option, if you're not keen on splashing out, you might just find a solution in your daily beauty routine: roll-on deodorant.

Even though TikTok is awash with specially-designed anti-chafe sticks that have racked up hundreds of five-star reviews – including this £8 bestseller – numerous users have also suggested that your everyday deodorant can stop your thighs from chafing when donning a dress or short-shorts. The idea is that roll-on deodorant can reduce the usual friction that leads to uncomfortable chafing.

In a viral clip with over 37,000 views, TikToker @leighannhealey shares her top anti-chafe strategy: "My go-to trick is deodorant, I put [it] in between my legs so that when they rub together they just slip and slide! " she then demonstrates how it effectively reduces friction.

Given that roll-on deodorants is widely available from high street retailers and are priced at around £2, sometimes even less with discounts – although it's likely that it's something you already own in your bathroom cabinet – this budget-friendly hack is definitely worth giving a whirl, reports OK!.

Another potentially useful summertime skincare hack that TikTokers have been raving about is the frozen cucumber trend. This involves running the end of a sliced frozen cucumber over your skin, supposedly for a cooling complexion boost when the weather's hot.

Although there are some immediate advantages to this trick – such as reducing puffiness and offering cooling relief during a heatwave – it's a harmless trend but unlikely to provide lasting benefits, the experts say. As pointed out by Dr Vanita Rattan, physician and skincare formulator, in her own TikTok video, "You can use this maximum once a day, and results are temporary."

So, will you be trying either of these inexpensive beauty hacks in the hot weather this summer? Let us know if so!
