Jurgen Klopp's agent, Marc Kosicke, has hit out at "nonsense" claims the former Liverpool boss is set to cut short his break from the sport to become Red Bull's new head of global football.

Klopp stood down as Liverpool manager at the end of last season and said he would take a year away from football before considering his next move. "If you ask me, 'Will you ever work as a manager again?', I would say now no, but I don't know obviously how that will feel because I never had the situation," he told club media.

"What I know definitely, I will never, ever manage a different club in England than Liverpool, 100 per cent. That's not possible. My love for this club, my respect for the people is too big. I couldn't. I couldn't for a second think about it.

"There's no chance. I will find something else maybe to do. But I will not manage a club or a country at least for a year, that's not possible, I cannot do that and I don't want to. That's all."

However, reports from Germany claimed that Klopp was being lined up to become Red Bull's head of global football. The position has been vacant since Oliver Mintzlaff was promoted to oversee all of Red Bull's sporting operations in 2022.

Kosicke, though, has moved to shut down the rumours when asked by Sky Germany. "Total nonsense," Kosicke insisted. "There's nothing to it."

Since leaving Liverpool, Klopp was spotted attending the Champions League final at Wembley as his former club Borussia Dortmund were beaten 2-0 by Real Madrid. He has also launched his own Instagram account, which has since amassed almost 4million followers.

And Pep Lijnders, who was Klopp's right-hand man at Liverpool, has suggested the German may never return to football. "In the life we lead as coaches, and I've lived it now for 22 years, nothing else counts apart from the next game," Lijnders told The Athletic.

"You might have one hour of joy before you start thinking about the next game. Doing that for so many years at the level Jurgen has managed, you come to an age where you really want to wake up in the morning and just think, 'What time shall I go to the bakery? Shall I take my bike or the car? What time shall I book that padel court for?'

"Simple things. I don't know if he will manage again but he will do a lot of good things for the world. There will be a lot of interest in him, and I know I'll be getting sent a lot of pictures from his holidays."
