Kelly Clarkson has opened up on her impressive weight loss after fans speculated she had been the latest celebrity to use Ozempic.

The American Idol winner-turned-talk show host, 42, has been at the centre of a debate for months after showcasing her new physique. Many fans thought she had used the drug, that was originally developed for diabetes treatment. The active ingredient in Ozempic, semaglutide, is now also used in the fight against obesity. However, using Ozempic as a weight-management medication would be considered 'off-label'.

Clarkson has now decided to reveal she did not use the drug, but admitted she did use another form of drug to help her journey.

While chatting with Whoopi Goldberg on Monday, Clarkson revealed doctors had prescribed her with a weight loss medication after a blood test. While stopping short of naming the drug she used, Clarkson denied any taking of Ozempic.

She said: "Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too. Everybody thinks it's Ozempic, it's not - it's something else."

She went on to say how her physician told her to take the medication and claimed they had tried several times to convince her of the treatment. "My doctor chased me for like two years,' she continued. "And I was like, 'No, I'm afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems', I was afraid."

Clarkson opened up to explain how the medication she uses helps to break down the sugar in her body as this is something her body doesn't correctly do.

Goldberg herself has lost a lot of weight recently and admitted recently she had tried a weight loss drug herself after weighing 300lbs at her heaviest. In March, the Sister Act star, 68, revealed she has used the controversial weight loss drug Mounjaro to get slimmer while she was filming the movie Till in 2021.

Speaking to her co-panellists on The View at the time, she said: "I will tell you, you know, I weighed almost 300 pounds when I made Till. I had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff and one of the things that has helped me drop the weight is the Mounjaro... That's what I use."

Mounjaro, which is also known as tirzepatide, is an antidiabetic medication used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and for weight loss. Tirzepatide is administered via subcutaneous injections.
