Aaron Rodgers has been noticeably absent from the New York Jets' mandatory minicamp this week, with no official explanation provided.

Despite hinting at a comeback for most of the 2023 NFL season following an Achilles injury in Week 1, Rodgers has been absent all week, sparking curiosity among fans. NFL insider Dianna Russini shed some light on the possible whereabouts of the Jets' star quarterback during his absence from the minicamp.

Rodgers himself hasn't commented on his whereabouts or the reasons for his week-long absence, but Jets head coach Robert Saleh seems to be okay with it. Addressing the media, Saleh confirmed that he and Rodgers are in sync regarding the quarterback's situation.

"Aaron and I are on the exact same page," Saleh told reporters, according to NFL.com. "There's no issue between Aaron or his teammates, for that matter. We addressed it yesterday. It's more of an issue for everyone outside the building than it is inside."

Saleh chose not to disclose the specifics of Rodgers' absence, emphasizing that the details were a private matter between him and Rodgers. "Nope, it's a one-on-one conversation that's not something the team needed to know about," Saleh added.

Interestingly, Rodgers' stance echoes his sentiments from January. "If you want to be a winning organization and put yourself in position to win championships and be competitive, everything that you do matters," he remarked at the time.

"And the ------- that has nothing to do with winning needs to get out of the building. So that'll be the focus moving forward."

Despite this, even though Saleh and the Jets seem okay with Rodgers' absence, they will still fine him according to policy.

Rodgers's missing minicamp is crucial for New York's efforts to build team cohesion and camaraderie before the players part ways for over a month when the minicamp starts in earnest. However, Saleh has confirmed that he and Rodgers have discussed the situation, despite the absence being unexcused.

Before he missed this week's minicamp, Rodgers was seen at OTAs throwing footballs and engaging with teammates during his brief appearance. Yet, there was a concerning moment that left fans anxious.

While on the field, Rodgers was seen clutching his ankle and appeared to hobble briefly. He consulted with a team doctor and described his symptoms, leading to the doctor re-taping his foot for stabilization.

Fans were worried that his Achilles tear might be causing him discomfort and whether Rodgers felt ready to play. The Jets are set to face the Washington Commanders in their first preseason game on August 10, with their 2024 regular season starting against the San Francisco 49ers on September 9.
