An annoyed resident has come up with a simple and easy trick to stop her neighbour disturbing her peace

There is nothing worse than coming home from a long day and having to deal with a neighbour from hell. Some choose to turn a blind eye while others decide to awkwardly confront the resident. But sometimes even when you call them out, they don't listen. One resident decided after putting up with her annoying neighbour for so long, that she would take matters into her own hands.

The male in his 30s, who wishes to remain unnamed, took to Reddit recently to share his frustration. He explained that he lives on the third floor of an apartment building, and the family in the apartment below him has a little boy who "loves to kick his soccer ball around all day".

The frustrated man claims it "shakes my entire apartment" as the boy reportedly kicks his football on the side of building and against the walls of his home. "This makes it impossible for me to sleep," said the neighbour.

He explained: "He loves to kick his soccer ball around ALL DAY. He kicks it against the side of the building, against the inside walls of his apartment, slams it into the ceiling (my floor), and throws it onto the roof."

So when the little boy was next playing, and his ball landed on the neighbour's balcony, the annoyed adult decided he would keep the football for himself. "I just haven't given it back," he explained.

He continued: "It's been two days, and he has been knocking on my door continuously for those two days. He knocked (beat) on my door for two hours straight today, and at least once every hour after that. The thing is, I can sleep through someone knocking on my door, I can't sleep through my apartment shaking."

The man pointed out he was "finally" able to sleep for a full eight hours recently and does not want to give that up - giving the ball back could interrupt his sleep again. "I really don't want that to go away, am I the a*****e?," he asked Reddit users recently, after his post racked up thousands of comments and reactions.

"As a parent, I support this," wrote one individual. "It will be teach the mum a lesson as she'll be the one who has to buy her kids a new ball," they added.

Another suggested deflating the ball to teach a lesson, and commented: "I would have taken that ball over to their house rang the bell and stabbed the ball without breaking eye contact with the mum. Then, walk away without saying a word."

One other said: "He's being inconsiderate with his hobbies. Not your obligation to help him retrieve his ball. We live in a society, and we cant have our way all the time."

Relating to the situation, another wrote: "We told kids not to come in our yard for their ball because of our dogs and they kept doing it. I looked out one day and a kid was half over the cement wall and my dog had his pant leg. It was like out of a cartoon. Needless to say, any balls that came over the wall after that became the dog's property."

Some pointed out the man could have spoken to the child's parents about the problem, if he hasn't already. However another pointed out: "If the parents are letting their kid bounce a ball against walls/ceilings/etc all day every day I highly doubt a conversation is going to magically change them into better parents."
