Getting into a comfortable position on an airplane can be nigh on impossible. For most of us, a window seat is the best option by a long way, being able to tuck in and lean against something to even score some sleep. The middle and aisle chairs are welcome to fight between themselves for the worst.

However, there is now a hack doing the rounds on social media that promises to offer comfort no matter where you sit but not everyone is convinced. Posted over several accounts, passengers showed how they were using their seatbelt to secure their ankles to the chair.

In one video, which has been liked over half a million times, travel influencers Angie and Ricky wrote: “Thank you whoever posted this hack, finally tried this airplane hack and had the best nap ever. Life changing”.

  • Another user added: “had THE BEST nap,” and showed exactly how to perform the hack while in the middle seat. Unlocking her seatbelt, she pulled her knees up and then adjusted the length to sit around her ankles, anchoring her feet.

Underneath the videos, people were divided over whether the hack looked comfy or would work. One person replied: “My knees could NEVER.” And someone else added: “My fat calves could never!”

But others swore by it, with one admitting: “Tried it, air hostess woke me up.” “I went on a plane today and did this it honestly was so niceeeee,” added someone else.

“Omg yessss this is genius. Thank you for sharring!!!! I can literally never sleep good because my legs can’t get comfy on those tiny seats and it’s hard to sleep when they’re just dangling,” wrote another user. While a third user boasted: “I’ve been doing this for years and whenever I try to explain it everyone thinks I’m nuts.”

However, some people were more concerned about safety. One user penned: “if you crash your teeth would be in the back of your throat and something might impale your head so don't do dis.” And one person claiming to be cabin crew added: “As a flight attendant I would in fact be correcting this for takeoff.”
