THIS is the chilling moment an "innocent" woman was injured in the suspected crossfire of a drive-by shooting.

Armed cops rushed to Stamford Hill, North London, on Tuesday to hunt down a gunman when rounds were fired in broad daylight.

Footage exclusively obtained by The Sun shows the terrifying frenzy unravel as commuters, parents and children made their way home for the evening.

In just seconds, the bystander in her 30s goes from walking through the residential area to collapsing on the pavement.

As she desperately clutches her leg, two cars appear to speed past her, racing down the bus lane.

Witnesses said the vehicles headed towards Clapton Common where two more gunshots rang out.

Helpless onlookers watched on in horror as a handful of strangers rushed to the woman's aid.

She lay helplessly on the cold ground as she waited for emergency services to arrive.

A local told MailOnline her son saw the woman fall and scream "my leg, my leg".

She said: "[My son] came in and his face was just white. I heard two deafening gunshots echo around the street a few seconds apart.

"At first, I thought they were fireworks, but it was the loudest noise I've heard in a long time.

"I saw everyone running into shops and cowering behind walls for safe."

People in two cars said to be involved in the shooting were pointing weapons at each other before the woman, understood not to be linked to the drivers, was gunned down.

Cops and ambulance crews swamped the scene around 7.40pm before the victim was rushed to a major trauma centre in east London.

However, the CCTV marks the incident at 6.40pm because of the system not updating when the clocks went forward.

It is not known how many shots were fired or the current condition of the woman.

No one else is understood to have been injured.

The Met Police has not yet made an arrest in connection with the shooting.

A force spokesperson said: "Police were called at about 19:40hrs on Tuesday, 14 May to reports of a shooting near Reizel Close, Stamford Hill.

"Officers, including specialist firearms officers, and London Ambulance Service attended.

"A woman in her 30s was found with a gunshot injury to her leg. She was taken to an east London hospital – we await to hear updates on her condition.

"Offices are working to establish the circumstance of this incident.

"No arrests have been made at this time. A crime scene is in place."
