Meghan Markle might have been happily married to Prince Harry since 2018 - but at one time she was quite enamoured with another famous face.
Following the end of her marriage to Trevor Engelson in 2014, the Duchess of Sussex was linked to several men - including star , with whom she struck up an unexpected friendship.
The pair were linked after they took part in the viral ice bucket challenge together. A video posted to social media showed Meghan in fits of giggles as Rory, standing on a small step ladder, tips freezing water over her on a balcony in New York City. It was reported that after this encounter, the pair enjoyed drinks at the Fitzpatrick Hotel in New York and dinner together.

Rumours of a romance between Meghan, 42, and Rory, 35, later intensified in October 2014, when they were spotted having dinner together at the trendy Dublin restaurant Fade Street Social.
But according to reports the pair were just friends; Meghan was instead said to be dating chef Cory Vitiello at the time.
Rory went on to date Danish tennis professional Caroline Wozniacki from 2011 to 2014; they got engaged on 31 December 2013 but in May 2014, it was announced that he had ended the engagement.
"The problem is mine," he said at the time. "The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn't ready for all that marriage entails. I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we've had."
The Irish golf pro then started dating Erica Stoll, in 2015 and they were married in April 2017 at Ashford Castle in County Mayo. star Niall Horan and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin were among the guests, while music icons and Stevie Wonder performed at the event. The couple went on to welcome daughter Poppy in September 2020.
But on Monday came the news that Rory had filed for divorce.
"Rory McIlroy's communications team confirmed today that a divorce has been filed," a statement from the 35-year-old's team read. "They stressed Rory's desire to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible. He will not be making any further comment."

The couple will seek a co-parenting agreement, with both having resided in Florida for the past five and a half years.
