A Lamborghini sporting 'L' plates has been spotted in Liverpool, leaving people questioning how much the insurance would be.

Reddit users took to the social network to comment on the odd sight as they wondered who could afford to make their first car a luxury sports vehicle. One wrote: "I wonder how much an hours lesson in one of those would cost!!" while another chimed in: "Imagine the insurance!"

Meanwhile another dubbed the flash Italian vehicle a "Learnerborghini" adding the "L is obviously for Lamborghini" and not "learner".

Users also spotted the car behind was hot on the heels of the learner driver. One user wrote: "Still another car sitting up its a**e at the lights."

Meanwhile someone else noticed the second car was, naturally, a BMW. Another user was puzzled by the decision to drive a Lamborghini through the streets of a bustling city and suggested they were better in areas with a "complete absence" of traffic police.

They wrote: "You'd be better off coming up here to Scotland where we have long country roads and a complete absence of road traffic policing. But they want to show off." But while many people thought the car might belong to the lucky child of an "international billionaire", it appears it may actually be a stunt by a local driving school.

Clearview Driving recently took to YouTube with a call-out for newbie drivers, who could "learn to drive a lambo". The video showed off the car's exterior as instructor Aman Sanghera said: "Got a new upgrade for the learners, let's get in." Whether the car will actually be used for driving lessons was not made clear in the video.

Users suggested this L-plated car could be gearing up to feature in another promotional reel. "Considering the camera on the roof and the foreign plate, maybe it's a joke / they're filming something. Fun sight anyway," said one. Another suggested it was "a Lamborghini press car" used to promote the vehicle and would not in fact be used by those preparing for their driving test.

The Mirror has contacted Clearview Driving for more information.
