JOE Burgess is in nerrr doubt leaving Wigan has been the best thing for his career - now to deny the Warriors a Wembley place.

The Hull KR winger swapped his home town for Humberside and he will be one of Rovers' key weapons in tomorrow's Challenge Cup semi-final against the club that made him.

And he believes heading east has changed off-field life for the better, even if the accent - where no is nerrr, nine is narn and five is farv - he is surrounded by is strange.

“Have I got used to it?” asked Burgess, before adding a hearty, ‘Nerrrr, I’ve not.’

“But I love life in Hull. It’s been a change of scenery and I feel the move across the country is definitely benefitting me on the pitch.

"I wouldn’t say I get bored of things but new things really give me a new drive and new goals."

Hull KR’s meeting with Wigan is more than a reunion between Burgess and his old club, where he won a Super League title and a World Club Challenge.

It also sees the mates from St Edmund Arrowsmith School get back together, him and Luke Thompson with another Wiganer - injured Oliver Gildart - hoping their town is denied a trip to Wembley.

If they do, he may claim more of his agent’s fee after Burgess opted to link up once again with his big mate.

“He claims he’s the reason I’m here,” he added. “He keeps trying to take a percentage of my wage.

“OK, he was definitely a factor. My best mate’s here, so it was a no brainer.”
