A Shrek-themed breakfast has taken social media by storm as users were stunned by the themed meal.

Some were left scratching their heads after someone modelled their avocado and mushrooms on toast on characters from the hit Dreamworks film, while others were impressed by the "Shrekfast". A post to Twitter/X racked up more than 50,000 likes and was captioned: "You ok, babe? You haven't even touched your Shrekfast."

While some were disturbed by the likeness others started putting in requests for what they would like on their plates. One replied: "Just replace the shrooms with some turkey bacon on the ears, nose& chin of Donkey. Cream cheese to Shrek in the background, eyes, nose& mouth. Then feel free to send it over to my house."

One horrified social media user described the dish as "cursed food" while others appreciated the lighter side of the breakfast dish, praising the accuracy of the meal. "I have never wanted anything more in my life," one user wrote.

Despite the accurate characters some were concerned at the amount of ingredients on each slice of toast. Some were particularly aggrieved by the number of mushrooms to make up Eddie Murphy's Donkey. One complainant wrote: "If someone gave me a piece of toast with that much mushrooms on it… we will actually fight," while another joked: "a bagel covered in mushrooms would be my 13th reason."

Others sat on the fence over whether to love or hate the Shrek breakfast. While the attention to detail was borderline masterful in the eyes of some viewers, the meal itself left a lot to be desired. "I both hate and love this," one tweeter wrote. Another suggested: "real fans know shrekfast should actually be waffles."
