Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a necklace worn by Princess Diana if you're Kim Kardashian and have £163k to spare. After her purchase, the internet went wild with memes flooding Twitter, mocking the star's fascination with wearing items previously donned by icons like Marilyn Monroe.
The 42-year-old snapped up the necklace which was memorably worn by the Royal in 1987, after also wearing an iconic dress previously sported by Marilyn Monroe to last year's Met Gala.
Twitter was quick to poke fun at the lavish purchase with everyone from Mr Blobby to Gemma Collins reportedly having an item 'sold' to Kim Kardashian. Despite the star being American, the most popular memes appear to come from British pop culture - we've rounded up some of our favourites.

The memes come shortly after Kim Kardashian was blasted for taking part in the Essex girl stereotype trend in a TikTok.
Kim fans think Rob is in star's new video & share wild theoryMost of the skits are claiming that the reality TV star has spent far more than she did on the real necklace with millions and billions thrown around in these extravagant jokes.
As all internet jokes tend to, the meme has begun to evolve with Ryanair tweeting: "Kim Kardashian after visiting the British Museum" with a picture of "uk luggage limit" on google search. Another popular tweet had a picture of a digger scooping dirt out of a grave with the caption: "Kim Kardashian when she fancies a new cardigan".
Nadine Coyle
Girls Aloud star and Irish singer Nadine Coyle wasn't safe from the Kim Kardashian memes with her "missing" passport reportedly bought by the social media mogul.
In a now iconic moment in British pop culture, Nadine was caught out on Popstars lying about her age. She was 16 at the time, below the minimum of 18-years-old needed to enter the competition.
She tried to cover her tracks by claiming she had misplaced her passport, even calling her mum on camera to ask them to find it. However, once the cameras were off she confessed the truth - but it all worked out for her in the end as she landed a spot in Girls Aloud.
Another meme claimed that bandmate Cheryl Cole's X Factor USA outfit "that got her fired" was also bought by the star for "£1million at auction."
Andrew Lincoln
In a another meme, Kim Kardashian was riffling through the set items from Love Actually and found herself a lovely block fleece bang on trend for Y2K.
This was in fact the jumper that "Andrew Lincoln zips up perfectly in sync with the chorus of Dido's Here With Me in Love Actually" which she 'purchased' for $250,000.
Outside of the meme the whereabouts of the jumper are currently unknown but Love Actually and this Dido moment remain a Christmas classic.
Tanya McQuoid
Who wouldn't want to own something by the queen of comedy Jennifer Coolidge, who scooped up an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her performance in The White Lotus.
Khloe Kardashian slams Kim as a 'vibe stealer' in heated social media exchangeIn one of her more chic meme purchases, Kim Kardashian supposedly bought the mourning veil Jennifer's character Tanya McQuoid wears in season one of the smash hit show.
This was reportedly sold for a whopping $408k - a small price to pay for an item of Tanya's fabulous wardrobe.
Hayley Cropper
Better known as Hayley Cropper in Coronation Street, Julie Hesmondhalgh wasn't safe from this meme as Kim K purchased her iconic red coat from the show.
Coronation Street is an icon of British soaps, with Hayley's red coat being instantly recognisable throughout her 16 years on the show. Hayley was also the first openly transgender character every portrayed on a British soap so the coat could be called an item of LGBTQ+ historic value.
The tweet reported that Kim 'bought' the stylish red rain coat for a massive $1.4 billion, which if it were real, would be an astounding price for a raincoat.
Ornacia
If we're talking LGBTQ+ icons, the headpiece worn on her entrance by drag queen Vivacious on season six of RuPaul's Drag Race. The look was then parodied in season 15 by Ariana Grande and Vivacious herself once again.
When asked by RuPaul if she had a name for the headpiece, Vivacious replied "Ornacia" and the meme was born, referenced constantly throughout the show and its spin offs.
Kim Kardashian, according to Twitter, 'purchased' this piece of queer history for $231k - much lower than some of her other imaginary buys.
The mum-of-four also bought plenty of iconic Drag Race looks, including Monet X Change's sponge dress and LaLa Ri's paper bag dress.
