Enjoying some of the finest views in Wales, one converted Edwardian railway carriage is one of the most unique Airbnb stays you can book this summer.

Located on the coastal footpath between the sandy beaches at Aberporth and Tresaith, 'Wendy' - The Aberporth Express is an homage to 1930s interiors with oak-panelled walls, vintage style furniture and a touch of the Harry Potter's about it. A carefully curated and unique place to stay, the former railway carriage is surrounded by stunning scenery in every direction.

With two bedrooms, a cosy lounge, a dining room and a full-size kitchen and bathroom, the quirky accommodation is much more than the sum of its parts. Perched high above the waves crashing on the rocks below, the Art Deco-style interiors hark back to the Gilded Age of travel, perfectly paired with all the mod cons you could need for a comfortable stay from £250 per night.

Spacious enough to sleep small groups of up to five guests (four adults and one child), many visitors are lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the colony of bottle-nose dolphins that swim in the bay in front. With no neighbours and only the sea beside you, the carriage offers direct access to the heritage coast footpath for windy walks in West Wales.

All rooms in the carriage are lined in oak, are insulated and have panel heaters making the quirky Aribnb suitable for use all year round. The well-equipped kitchen includes a cooker, a microwave and a fridge with a small freezer compartment, and the compact veranda has station benches and a table where you can sit to soak up those stunning views.

Both bedrooms feature double beds and are beautifully dressed for a cosy night's sleep. The addition of a narrow train bunk in the larger bedroom is the perfect extra space for a child.

Visitors who have stayed in the converted carriage have fallen in love with the accommodation and location. One happy camper left a glowing five-star review that reads "'Wendy' is one of the most beautiful places to stay and quite unique… stunning situation!! Quirky with lots of history! I sat and watched the ocean for hours… sunsets sunrises… the views!! Beds comfy and slept like babies!"

Another couldn't hide their delight, adding "Wonderful place to stay right on the coast overlooking a beautiful bay, had a wonderful few days walking then relaxing in the lovely railway carriage ‘Wendy” very quirky, loved it will definitely return."

A third guest who loved the vintage feel exclaimed "The Wendy is amazing! My husband stayed here many years ago so when we saw the updated look and availability it was a must-book. It’s a real step back in time with the added bonus of stunning views and being right on the Welsh coastal path. A pot of the black tea from the tea tray out on the veranda is a must do!"

Potential guests should note that the car parking is a 300m walk along the flat, tarmac coastal footpath, but there is a luggage trolley available for your convenience. Some guests also reiterated that the third bed is only big enough for a small child.
