A socialite who shot dead a top cop during a drinking session has found love with an electrician.
Jasmine Hartin – whose ex is the son of billionaire Tory grandee Lord Ashcroft – was spared jail in Belize last June after saying it was an accident. It is understood the Canadian jet-setter, 34, got together with tradesman Carlos Duverge, 30, a month later. They live together in what locals call a “down-at-heel” neighbourhood on the paradise islands of Turks and Caicos.
It is near to where her mega-rich ex Andrew Ashcroft, 46, lives with their two children in a multi-million pound bungalow on a private golf estate. A source told us: “It couldn’t be more of a contrast from Jasmine’s last romance. Compared to her ex, he doesn’t have much but he makes her happy. They are always holding hands. He’s a traditional type who likes to take care of his lady and is very chivalrous.”
Our pictures show Jasmine kissing and frolicking with her new man, who is from the Dominican Republic, on a beach close to their home. The source added: “They first met last summer when Jasmine interviewed Carlos for a building project that she’s working on. He’s over 6ft and a gym bunny and they go to the gym together every night. He’s also a happy down-to-earth guy and very chilled out.”
Jasmine shot Supt Henry Jemmott, 42, a dad of five, in the head with his own gun as they drank on a pier in 2021. She admitted manslaughter and got 300 hours of community service and a £30,000 fine. But other legal cases against her are ongoing and Jasmine fears she could be jailed.
Top Tory's daughter-in-law guilty of shooting police chief dead with his own gunOur source said: “Jasmine is terrified of going back to Belize. She is still facing drug and assault charges related to her arrest and she is facing an ongoing civil case from Henry Jemmott’s family.
Lord Ashcroft, 78, a Tory donor and ex-party treasurer, has joint British and Belizean nationality and is considered one of the most powerful people in the Central American country. The source added: “Jasmine is trying to rebuild her life, establishing a real estate business.”
Earlier this month, Hartin told the podcast White Devil: “I’m starting the healing process. It’s not easy, I have flashbacks and nightmares. I wasn’t even allowed to say sorry to the family [during the trial]. I pray for them every night.”
