Both hosts brought viewers the latest news from across the country and world while Carol Kirkwood was live from the Chelsea Flower Show.

But as Jon, 54, posted what's to come this week he was bombarded by unhappy viewers.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, he wrote: "A big week of news ahead. Infected blood inquiry.

In a swipe at the seasoned presenter, one BBC Breakfast fan said: "Give us some good news for a change Jon."

A second wrote: "Not a chance in hell would I watch that show."

"Is there anything to make us feel joyful, fed up with all the doom mongering that you bombard us with every day," said a third.

However, some fans did were enthusiastic as one said: "Ooh can hardly wait."

While another simply posted: "Always."

Meanwhile, BBC Breakfast fans were left scratching their heads as Naga Munchetty failed to host the show over the weekend.

The show's business correspondent  Nina Warhurst stood in to present alongside Charlie Stayt as no explanation was given for Naga's absence.
