A Nevada family was left devastated after their 12-year-old daughter tragically took her own life.
The parents of Flora Martinez say that the young girl passed away on May 7 after she was bullied repeatedly at Duane D. Keller Middle School in Las Vegas. They claim a transfer to another school was denied by the Clark County School District in October last year.
"I had to send my daughter to go to hell every day. But she didn't deserve that," Alice Martinez, Flora's mother, said according to NBC News affiliate KSNV. “Literally, the picture that we're using for her service is from the first day of sixth grade, when she was still happy and excited. A little nervous, but we had no idea of the brutality that was going to be coming her way.”

Dad Joshua Parker said that “almost every day” after school Flora “didn’t want to talk.” He explained: “She would tell me, 'I had a problem with this girl and her group of friends. They're constantly trying to fight me.”
UK's first non-binary priest says God guided them to come out after an epiphanyJoshua said the school responded by kicking both Flora and another pupil out for a short time. “It seemed like it was just like, let's just kick them both out, give them time to breathe, and then maybe when they come back to school everything would be fine… It wasn’t or her, at least.”
Some children “were not satisfied,” according to the grieving dad, who claimed children posted horrible comments about Flora online even after she had died. Alice said one of the comments said: “Even though she's dead. It makes me the happiest person in the world."
The Mirror has approached the school district for comment. The parents are hopeful that other children can be protected. “My daughter was literally bullied to death,” Alice told 8 News Now.
Joshua added: “This wasn’t just one incident that happened, and you know, she decided to take her life. This was months and months and months of bullying that built up, and finally, she just couldn’t take it no more.”
A GoFundMe in Flora’s honour to help pay for her funeral and cremation has raised over $10,000 so far. Residual funds will be donated to charities that “focus on bullying prevention and suicide watch.” The GoFundMe description reads: “We love you so much. And we'll miss your goofiness, your laugh, and your smile forever.”
