AN EXPERT has revealed a simple hack that can rid spiders from your home for just £1.45 - and you probably already have it in a cupboard.
With the weather warming up spiders are on the move and invading Britain’s homes.
But if the thought of arachnids crawling around your rooms leaves you in a panic, help is at hand.
Jess Steele, heating technology expert at designer radiator specialists BestHeating, has revealed the cheap product available in supermarkets that can help keep your home spider free all summer long.
She advises using peppermint oil to end your spider worries.

Jess said: “Peppermint oil provides a strong smell, and spiders are sensitive to them, which makes it an effective yet cheap method of taking away the worry of finding creepy crawlies all over the home, without causing harm to them.”
She recommends combining peppermint oil with water to make a spray and spritzing it on the inside of curtains, windowsills and in the corners of carpets.
It can even be used as a diffuser to deter spiders from the busiest rooms in the house. Or used to soak cotton buds in before placing them in areas where spiders commonly appear.
Jess added: “Spiders smell with their legs so that’s why powerful scents work well. For those with persistent issues try a mixture of smells such as citrus peels, herbs and spices like mint and cinnamon, and even using vinegar in a spray, as these are fantastic and natural ways to keep your home free of arachnids without spending much.”
If you don't already have peppermint in your home (it can be used as a medicine or in cooking), you can pick up extract for as little as £1.45 in Asda's cooking aisle or for a similar price in any other supermarket.
An oil, which is stronger, can be found in chemists and health shops. For example you can pick up a 10ml oil for £4.99 ar Superdrug.
Keeping troublesome pests under control doesn’t need to hit your wallet and there are plenty of household items that can help rid your home of unwanted intruders.
For example, vinegar soaked cotton wool balls can be used to eliminate flies from your home, for as little as £2.50.
Planting lavender, marigolds and even strong scented herbs in your garden can also act as a permanent solution to batting flies away.
