It was a mixed season for Liverpool but one which may be looked back on with a positive light if this team continues to develop.
Of course, it will always be remembered as Jurgen Klopp ’s final campaign with the Reds after his bombshell news in January that he was leaving the club. But it looked at one stage they could be on for a glorious farewell when they won the Carabao Cup in February and still had hopes of a quadruple.
Unfortunately, they fell short in the Premier League and suffered shock defeats in the FA Cup and Europa League. But there were still some very good performers this season for the Reds.
Here Mirror Football has rated and slated Liverpool's players from Klopp's final campaign in charge...
Alisson Becker 7
Jurgen Klopp's approach with Robert Lewandowski bodes well for Darwin NunezBrilliant at times, had some errors and a spell out with a hamstring injury but still a fine season.
Caoimhin Kelleher 8
Stepped up in Alisson’s absence and key in helping the Reds win the League Cup. Irish keeper will be wanted this summer.
Trent Alexander-Arnold - 7
Like Alisson, had some impressive moments. Dipping into midfield he plays a big role but injuries meant missed some crucial games.
Conor Bradley - 7
Burst onto the scene for the Reds and was stellar in the few games he got to play.
Ibrahima Konate - 6
Not his best campaign for the Reds and lost his place towards the end of the season.
Jarell Quansah - 8
Celtic icon Frank McGarvey dies aged 66 as tributes paid to hero after cancer fightEmerged this season and looks like he could be a regular for years to come. The odd error but to be expected for a young player.
Joel Matip - 6
His last as a Liverpool player was sadly cut short by injury but did impress when he played in the first half of the campaign.
Virgil van Dijk - 8
Some wrote him off after an average season last term but stepped back up to his best this season.
Andy Robertson - 7
Injuries hit him but he came back strong towards the end of the campaign. Still a key player.
Joe Gomez - 8
Really good season, now got a chance to go to the Euros when he’s been previously out of England picture.
Kostas Tsimikas - 6
Always a good back-up player but may need to move if he wants more game time.
Wataru Endo - 8
Eyebrows were raised when he was signed last summer but proven to be a key cog in the midfield.
Alexis Mac Allister - 8
Not always great in the No.6 role but once he has more freedom and less defensive responsibility he really shines on the ball.
Dominik Szoboszlai - 7
Started the season so well but as it progressed he became less influential in games and out of the team.
Curtis Jones - 7
Another who started well and battled to get into team but an injury made it more difficult.
Ryan Gravenberch - 6
Not the easiest first campaign but still young and learning for the Reds. Could be key next season.
Harvey Elliott - 8
Really impressed later in the season and when Mo Salah was at Africa Cup of Nations. Still so young, too.
Mo Salah - 8
Scored 25 goals and had 14 assists in one of his quieter campaigns for the Reds. Shows his standards are so high.
Cody Gakpo - 6
Looked to be struggling earlier in the campaign but was much improved towards the end.
Darwin Nunez - 5
Still scored some great goals but the misses are proving to be so costly now.
Luis Diaz - 7
A player who is world class at so many things but final ball and finish sometimes lets him down. Still exciting.
Diogo Jota - 7
Brilliant when he played but injuries again a real problem for him.
The Rest - 7
A mention for Liverpool’s young guns who came in during an injury crisis to help them in the league and, more impressively, to beat Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final. James McConnell, Bobby Clark, Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns all did well and have bright futures in the game.
