Screen time is a worry for most mums and dads but Adele fears she’s a “bad parent” for letting her son spend so much time online.
The singer admits it hit home when she introduced her 11-year-old son to some prolific internet gamers, and they were impressed with how much playing he did.
“He’s a bit too young but I don’t agree with the internet yet,” she said, explaining she used her “Adele power” to get Angelo access to an event featuring his favourite web celebrity Spoonkid. “I felt very, very cool,” she boasts.
However, she told the crowd at her Las Vegas residency: “My kid completely held his own with these 20-year-old gamers. And they were clearly very impressed with him.
“And when he told him his hours that he’s played it, they were like, ‘Whoa’. And I was like, ‘Oh, sh**. Am I a bad parent?’.” The singer, who says she is desperate for another child, will be “proud as punch” if gaming brings Angelo a new set of friends, as games, including multiplayer Rust, are his passion.
Adele ‘hobbles’ around Las Vegas stage as she struggles with health conditionShe adds: “People that I think of who play video games are like Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto – which, no offence, is people that end up becoming zombies on things.
“But he was having very, very real, very smart conversations with them and strategy conversations with them.”
She’ll have to soundtrack one of the games to impress him.
