If you didn't think there was more than one way to eat a kiwi, you'd be mistaken.

Are you the kind of person that cuts a kiwi in half, only to scoop out the green-flesh with a spoon? Maybe you even peel the sweet and tangy fruit before tucking into it.

If you do eat the exotic fruit this way, it turns out you're chomping it wrong. A doctor claimed if you're not eating the 'correct' way, you're losing out on 50% of the fibre. But not everyone is convinced by his method.

Referring to a video of Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega eating a kiwi with the skin on, Dr Joseph Salhab, known as the Stomach Doc, shared: "If you eat a kiwi with the skin on you actually get 50% more fibre and some more vitamins and nutrients."

However, in the TikTok video, Dr Salhab, who is a gastroenterologist, said you need to "wash it really well to get some of those little hairs off," as otherwise it might feel quite unpleasant to scoff. He also recommends consuming them when they are "nice and soft" so they are "easier to eat".

Acknowledging that some might find it "a little weird", he recommended slicing the kiwi into discs, as it's "so much easier to eat". He added: "Kiwi is great for your gut health. It packs a whole ton of vitamin C. It allows your good bacteria to grow and helps prevent constipation."

Unsurprisingly, not everyone was thrilled by the thought of eating fuzzy kiwis - no matter the health benefits. "I can't, the fuzzy skin freaks me out," said one person. However, Dr Salhab recommended: "Sungold has a smoother surface."

Meanwhile, some people couldn't do it for allergy reasons. "Kiwi makes my mouth tingle, I don't like it," said one person. "I don't think I can eat with skin on. It's so weird, also sometimes it itches my lips."

But for some, they love the idea. "Tastes so much better with the skin," said one person, while a second added: "I do. People thought I was crazy. It's really good.". Another added: "I tried, it didn't taste of much but it was hard to chew. Might have to cut it in smaller pieces."

Holland and Barrett also says kiwi skin can be great for your external appearance, as well as your inner health. It has a high amount of vitamin E, which is used in beauty products. They claim it could have an anti-ageing effect on your skin and can help you maintain a healthy glow.
