Fast food fans have been left stunned by a posh McDonald's inside a stunning mansion.

It dates back to 1795 and once served as a farmhouse to a descendant of one of the founders of the town of Hempstead, New York. It is now one of the fanciest McDonald's eateries in the world.

The mansion in Long Island, New York, was used as a funeral home before being turned into a restaurant. It boasts shuttered windows and brick chimneys - and looks like a gingerbread house from a fairy-tale.

Locals in North Hempstead were determined to keep the historical structure of the beautiful home when McDonald's acquired the space in the 1980s. The fast food chain agreed to restore it while opening an eatery inside. Now, inside the New Hyde Park spot - dubbed 'McMansion' - there is a grand staircase, fancy tables and chairs, glamorous booths, and a glass conservatory area.

US social media influencer and editor-in-chief of the Average Socialite, Sharm Sil, known as @sharmedlife on TikTok, recently shared a look inside the eatery. She said: "Have you been to the world's most beautiful McDonald's?

"This two story restaurant dubbed the 'McMansion' is a house inside a historical landmark in New Hyde Park, NY!"

Reacting to the same clip on Instagram, one woman shared that she used to live in the property when it was used as a home. She said: "This was my childhood home in the 1950’s when my grandparents owned a restaurant called Luigi's."

Another individual said: "I live so close. It’s been there forever I take it for granted that a lot of people don't know about this McDonald's." One other commented: "That's really nice McD's. I love filet-o-fish and could see myself enjoying one here. Absolutely gorgeous!"

But the New York spot isn't the only posh McDonald's; there is also a 150-year-old McDonald's mansion in Freeport, Maine. It is not your average McDonald's either - there is no giant golden arch, and it instead has discreet and minimalist features. From the outside it looks like a fancy hotel or museum. You can order lobster from the menu and eat your fries by a fireplace.

There are other impressive McDonald's sites around the world - the biggest restaurant is in Orlando, Florida, and there is a McDonald's in Rome with hand-carved statues at the entrance. In New Zealand, there is a McDonald's where food is served from an abandoned aeroplane.
