Messages of support flooded in after her message on social media, where her huge following includes 424,000 Instagram fans.

Jones is a devout Leeds United supporter who joined the Beeb three years ago.

She wrote: "My health hasn’t been in a great place for quite some time now and I’ve spent more time in hospital than my own home.

"I’m taking time away from work/life to focus on getting back to full strength. I’ll be back soon."

She has a Masters degree in Broadcast Journalism and began her career as a freelance journalist for Channel 5 News.

Since then Jones has been a travel reporter and presenter on radio as well as for her beloved Whites.

Well-wishing responses swarmed in after her health announcement.

Legendary ex-Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling posted: "Sorry to hear that. Hope things improve soon."

There was also support from ex-Elland Road striker Jermaine Beckford, who has co-presented The Official Leeds Utd Podcast with Jones.

The former Everton and Leicester ace, 40, said: "Thinking of you guys x"

And amongst the messages from fans, this one spoke for many: "Speedy Recovery Young Lady, want you fit for the New Season at Elland Road."

Her return would certainly be a morale-booster as Leeds prepare for a second season in the Championship following play-off final agony.
