A beauty staple you probably have lying around in the bathroom could be the answer to saving your favourite T-shirt.

Whether it's a university graduation hoodie or a souvenir tee from your last holiday, we all have at least one item of clothing with vinyl print on (you know, like the I heart NYC ones every tourist buys). But over time, the plastic-like material can start to peel away and crack, which usually results in throwing away our most sentimental garments.

However, it turns out there's a simple way to keep the vinyl down and prevent it from shedding - and it only costs a couple of quid...

Taking to TikTok, mum Bree showed how she saves her children's beloved T-shirt using just acetone nail polish remover and a cotton pad. "Alright mums, here's a hack for not only your kid's clothes, but the whole family," she said before adding acetone to a cotton pad.

"Take the cotton pad [and] press it firmly on the place it's cracking and it fixes it just like that," she added. "For the second step, you're going to need parchment paper and an iron or a steamer.

"Take the parchment paper, put it over your shirt and then take the iron and rub it all around. After smoothing the iron over the whole shirt, you're going to want to press firmly on each individual spot. Adding heat is really going to lock everything in. That way it doesn't continue to crack and it doesn't get any worse."

You can buy acetone from most beauty stores and supermarkets including Superdrug, which is currently selling a 50ml bottle for just 99p. A 50-pack of cotton pads from the retailer will only set you back 60p. As for parchment paper, you can grab a 15m roll from Tesco for £2, if you don't have any in your kitchen already.
