A woman sparked online debate after she swapped her traditional burger bun for a croissant.

Her culinary creativity was exhibited in a photo on Reddit. It pictured a croissant filled with a meat patty, bacon, lettuce, tomato and sauce.

The lady posted: "Thoughts on croissant as a burger bun?" along with the image showcasing her unusual use of the flaky French pastry.

Despite its unconventional nature, the dish appeared genuinely appealing, prompting many to express their desire to indulge in the food oddity.

Nonetheless, people online were split over the concept, and it inspired vigorous discussion around whether the gastronomical innovation was commendable or condemnable.

One person voiced their approval saying: "Valid. Love them with cheese and ham or bacon in." Another added: "Savoury croissants taste insanely good, had them every day in Barcelona."

Invention evidently sparked curiosity in another commentator, who stated: "I never would have thought of this. Now I must try a bacon butty in a croissant. And a sausage sarny for good measure."

Another suggested: "Don't let the haters get to you. Croissant is fine as a burger bun. I would choose a rounder croissant though. Good stuff."

However, not everyone was sold on the concept. Criticisms ranged from denying burger status to the concoction, to outright rejection of the radical fusion.

For some die-hard food traditionalists, it appears nothing can compete against tried-and-true classics.

Another added their two cents, saying: "It would be a sandwich. A burger is defined by the bread. A sandwich which uses a burger bun is a burger."

One more commented: "That looks delicious but also horrible at the same time." Meanwhile, another was torn, stating: "I'm conflicted."

Clearly, opinions are split on this culinary creation. Yet, it seems many would be keen to take a bite. So would you try it? Let us know in the comments section below.
