HE promised the fans something special and Dave Grohl didn’t disappoint when he invited the son of his late bandmate, Taylor Hawkins, to join them onstage at London stadium.
The 17-year-old joined in for the band's spirited rendition of I’ll Stick Around which sent crowds at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park, wild.
Introducing the musician, Dave Grohl said: “Thanks for waiting three hours to come play drums with us.”
A slew of fans tweeted live from the event as soon as Shane took to the stage.
One wrote: "Shane Hawkins playing with Foo Fights tonight, what a talent."

Original drummer Taylor Hawkins tragically died of a heart attack at age 50, having struggled with substance abuse for much of his life.
Foo Fighters played the first of two sold-out shows in London with a mammoth set to the delight of die-hard fans.
Introducing their show, Dave Grohl said: “I’m gonna kick you f**** arse tonight.” The guitarist then led the rock giants through a three-hour career-defining performance, packed with tributes to their relationship to the UK and London.
As well as dedicated to Taylor Hawkin’s favourite song, “Aurora! To his family who were present, this was the second time they’d invited Shane to play with them, the first was the Wembley Stadium performance in 2022.
And it seems that the drama wasn’t confined to the stage when Grohl asked for a fan to be removed for being drunk and disorderly.
Later they performed an acoustic cover of the Led Zeppelin song Stairway to Heaven and Grohl’s daughter Violet joined him for a duet for the song Show Me How.”
The band are limbering up for their headline set at the Glastonbury Festival later this month.
