Susanna Reid - who fronts Good Morning Britain every Monday to Thursday - starred on Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg as part of the panel.

BBC politics reporter Laura joked about Susanna's former stint on the channel, where she fronted BBC Breakfast from 2001 until 2014, telling how the broadcaster "was no stranger to these parts."

During Susanna's previous appearance on the weekly show in December, fans branded her a "boss" for her straight-talking comments.

This week's programme focussed on the upcoming UK General Election on July 4.

Talk also turned to the election betting scandal after a second Tory candidate was caught placing a bet on the prospect of an early July election.

The show aired with just 11 days to go until voters take to the polls.

Meanwhile, Susanna will be playing a huge part in GMB's election results coverage after we reported on broadcaster ITV's plans.

The weekday show will be extended for an 25 minutes as the election results start to roll in on Friday July 5.

Susanna will be joined by regular GMB co-host Ed Balls, 57, who will be pulling in a double shift after grafting in the evening on July 4 on another ITV election show.

The broadcaster claims Good Morning Britain will play its part with "up-to-the-minute election news and insights" on July 5, when the results and exit polls projections start to roll in.

GMB - which usually runs a three-hour show - will be extended for an extra 25 minutes, until 9:25am, meaning the Friday Lorraine show which begins at 9am will be scrapped completely.

ITV has also exclusively confirmed to The Sun there will be no Loose Women or This Morning shows due to the huge shake-up of the ITV daytime offering.

An ITV spokesperson then revealed the Good Morning Britain plans and said: "The studio will host the best, brightest, most outspoken and listened to political policy makers and commentators in the country.

"They will all join as guests as the show continues to cover up-to-the-minute election news and insights through to 9.25am."

FAN FAVE

Previously Susanna, who used to work for the broadcaster in her role as BBC Breakfast host, was hailed a fan favourite on Laura Kuenssberg's programme.

At the time, she addressed issues including Michelle Mone's role in a £200million PPE scandal during her appearance on the show in December.

At the time, one fan put on X: ""Susanna Reid should be on #bbclaurak every week!"

Another then put: "Love Susanna Reid," as a third continued: "The broadcaster must pull out all the stops to get Susanna back on the channel."
