A married have revealed that their five-inch height difference has attracted "vile" comments from online trolls.

Some have even mistaken 5ft 5in Wes for his other half Cassandra's son. The pair, who met on a dating app in 2007, never considered their height difference to be a "big deal".

Cassandra, who stands at 5ft 10in and can tower over Wes by eight inches when she wears heels, admitted that she had reservations about dating someone shorter than her. Speaking on the Love Don't Judge podcast, she said: "When I started dating I didn't want to date anyone shorter than me because I was just so focussed on what people would think."

However, once Cassandra formed a connection with Wes, she decided to "let the height thing go", and their relationship flourished. Unfortunately, online comments towards Wes have been less than kind.

Trolls have suggested that he "can't protect" Cassandra, accused him of having "short-man syndrome", and even said he looks like her child, reports the Daily Star.

The stylish couple began sharing their daily outfits on TikTok and even "went viral" after posting about their wedding day. Wes described the reaction as if he were "some kind of alien".

He revealed: "A lot of people do think it's peculiar and it's unusual so we get a lot of troll comments. The comments are so concerning. Because there's a height difference in our relationship all of a sudden you're no longer feminine and I'm no longer masculine and that's not true at all.

"The worst comment we got is that someone said Cassandra is actually my mother and that I was her son, which was quite distasteful because I'm not even sure what made that person say that comment."

Cassandra has made it clear that despite the trolls, Wes is very much in charge, saying he "wears the pants" in their partnership and calling herself "a princess". She brushed off the negativity with confidence, saying: "Honestly, I don't care, I'm a confident person, I know who I am as a person, you can say whatever you like, have your own opinion but it's your opinion."

The couple admits that the online jibes about their stature disparity have only strengthened their bond. Cassandra expressed her wish for society to break free from its rigid standards, urging people to "stop believing what society has in place" and challenge the concept of what's considered "normal".
