Lizzo has declared she's the "happiest" she's been in nearly a year, just a short while after announcing she might "quit" the music biz for good.

The 35-year-old singer expressed her gratitude to her fans for their "patience" as she candidly shared her recent struggles with depression. Taking to Instagram, she shared a selfie and penned: "I'm the happiest I've been in 10 months. The strange thing about depression is you don't know you're in it until you're out of it. (sic)".

Despite her challenges, the 'Truth Hurts' sensation revealed that the "dark cloud" that loomed over her daily is starting to dissipate, and teased that new tunes might be on the horizon. She continued: "I'm definitely not all the way as carefree as I used to be."

"But the dark cloud that followed me every day is finally clearing up. My smile reaches my eyes again and that's a win. I thought my album was finished.. but I gotta get some of these good vibes off in a banger real quick. Thanks for your patience (sic)".

Back in March, Lizzo expressed her frustration and exhaustion with the industry, hinting at retiring because she was fed up with constant criticism. Her post read: "I'm getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet."

"All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I'm starting to feel like the world doesn't want me in it. I'm constantly up against lies being told about me for clout and views... being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look."

"My character being picked apart by people who don't know me and disrespecting my name. I didn't sign up for this (sic)." Lizzo, boasting nearly 12 million Instagram followers, concluded her post with: "I quit [peace-sign emoji] (sic)". However, just a few days later, the hitmaker behind 'About Damn Time', real-named Melissa Viviane Jefferson, retracted her outburst and insisted she wanted to refocus away from all things "negative".

In an inspiring video clip, she clarified: "When I say 'I quit,' I mean, I quit giving any negative energy attention. What I'm not gonna quit, is the joy of my life, which is making music...which is connecting to people.

Cause I know I'm not alone. In no way, shape, or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive. If I can just give one person the inspiration or motivation to stand up for themselves and say they quit letting negative people win, negative comments win, then I've done even more than I could have hoped for. With that being said, I'm going to keep moving forward...keep being me."
