A SUPPLEMENT a day will keep the body odor away, according to one skin doctor.

A dermatologist has shared her tips for keeping your skin extra smooth and less stinky all summer long.

SKIN-SAVING SUPPLEMENT

Certified cosmetologist and dermatologist, Olga Skydan, who is also associated with face yoga app Luvly, has some hygiene tips that help to combat the heat.

To look - and smell - your best, she recommends adding a skin-saving supplement to your routine.

"A drop of chlorophyllin in a glass of water or juice every morning before breakfast can help clear your skin, flush toxins from your body and reduce body odor," she said.

"It has antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects on the skin. Speeds up wound healing, hydrates and brightens skin," she continued.

"Just be sure to read the label and do not take more than the recommended dose."

If you want to try the herbal supplement for yourself, Vitacost Chlorophyllin tablets are available for $11.99.

WIPE ODOR AWAY

If deodorant isn't doing it for you, another little known trick will keep skin fresher for longer - no reapplication necessary.

To maintain top hygiene all day, she advises using anti-perspirant wipes.

"Stick deodorant doesn’t cope too well with excessive sweating, but applying an antiperspirant wipe to dry skin at night usually solves the issue," she said.

"They reduce sweat for over 24 hours, so there’s less chance of that sticky feeling and funny smells."

HEALTHY SUMMER HAIR

If your hair often becomes brittle from the heat, you can protect your strands with a leave-in conditioner that offers UV protection.

She shared how adding this extra layer of hydration and moisture can help fight the drying effects of high temperatures.

ALL OVER FRESHNESS

She also swears by one over the counter buy that you can use to wash your underarms and feet with.

"Benzoyl peroxide is the perfect remedy for those areas that are prone to smelling bad," she said.

"While it won’t stop you sweating, it does kill bacteria on the skin, which is generally to blame for foul odors."

SWEETER SKIN

Another cheap find will also keep bacteria at bay.

"Mask the smell with a splash of perfume, but not before you apply a small amount of Vaseline to your skin," she said.

"Being an oil, it binds with the fragrance, helping it stick to your skin for longer."

You can definitely add this into your hygiene routine without breaking the bank.

Walmart sells Vaseline Pure Petroleum Jelly which is on sale for $2.47.

EXTRA EXTRA EXFOLIATION

To get rid of excess dirt or build-up, she encourages everyone to exfoliate their skin on a regular basis.

She also warns what products to stay away from.

"Sweat and sunscreen can clog pores and create a breeding ground for bacteria," she said.

"To keep your skin clean and fresh, exfoliate at least once every ten days, and once or twice a week for oily areas like your chest and back," she added.

"Avoid scrubbing with harsh particles like fruit pits or shells on thin skin. Instead, stick to sugar - or coffee-based formulas. They’re less abrasive and contain nutrients that will help restore your skin."

BEAUTY SLEEP

If you want to ensure you're getting the best possible beauty sleep, she advises what kind of pillowcase you should be using.

"Cotton pillowcases are absorbent, so a good night’s sleep will take the moisture out of your skin and hair - unless you swap them for silk," she said.

"They’re usually antibacterial and hypoallergenic and will retain moisture rather than reduce it, so they’re ideal for sensitive skin."
