However, Liverpool are also said to be interested in Ugarte and have been linked with a move for ex-Everton winger Anthony Gordon. Chelsea have got off to a swift starting after signing Marc Guiu from Barcelona and he could be followed by Leicester's Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Aston Villa, Newcastle, Southampton and Ipswich have also all been busy over the last couple of days.

Gordon keen on Liverpool move

There is some concern brewing at Newcastle over Anthony Gordon.

The 23-year-old was linked with a surprise move to Anfield last week as the Magpies rushed to meet PSRs, but was denied the move to his boyhood club after Liverpool failed to match Newcastle's valuation.

And according to The Telegraph, Gordon was keen on the move and has had his head turned by the show of interest despite a bid not materialising. And Newcastle are worried about his state of mind before he returns for pre-season training.

Gordon has not been coy about his admiration of Liverpool, lavishing praise on the matchday experience at Anfield Stadium while revealing that Steven Gerrard was one of his childhood heroes while speaking on Gary Neville's The Overlap.

And yesterday, TEAMtalk reported Liverpool were prepared to bid £50m as well as Kelleher to encourage Newcastle to sell their star player.

Tottenham sign Gray

Tottenham have announced the signing of Archie Gray from Leeds, with defender Joe Rodon going the other way.

Gray has signed a deal that will run until 2030, while Rodon completes a permanent move to Leeds after a successful loan spell at Elland Road last season.

Maresca's role in Dewsbury-Hall move

Enzo Maresca has already had a glimpse into what his Chelsea future holds after the club's sporting directors reportedly took charge of the club's quest for a new midfield option.

A familiar face to the Italian manager, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is set to join Chelsea in a £30million deal from Leicester, who formerly employed Maresca. It has been reported, however, that the new man in charge wasn't the one who led the campaign to secure Dewsbury-Hall's signature, but that Chelsea's board pulled the majority of the strings.

This reveals plenty about the role that the Championship-winning Maresca will play within this Chelsea outfit and the backseat that he will take when it comes to transfers.

Forson exit confirmed

Man United have officially confirmed the exit of youngster Omari Forson. The winger was previously in talks over a new contract but has departed, according to the Red Devils.

The Serie A side are yet to officially confirm their swoop for the young winger. Man United are due a compensation fee for the 19-year-old.

Forson made seven appearances in all for Man United’s senior side after making his way through the academy. He is just the latest in a long line of academy prospects to leave this summer including Brandon Williams, Charlie McNeill, Marcus Lawrence and Kie Plumley.

Chelsea urged to keep Gallagher

Conor Gallagher has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer, but Blues legend Claude Makelele wants to see the England international remain at Stamford Bridge.

"At Chelsea, the squad is very large and some players will have to go," Makelele told wettfreunde.net. "But Conor is a great player who has held his own in this star ensemble. He was used very often by Mauricio Pochettino and he took his chance. So I hope that Enzo Maresca will also rely on him."

Ashworth’s De Ligt plan

After arriving at Old Trafford from Newcastle, Dan Ashworth has a plan in place to sign Matthijs de Ligt. It is understood that the Red Devils would be willing to offer him a five-year deal to revive his career at Old Trafford.

De Ligt has emerged as a target for the Red Devils as their move for Jarrad Branthwaite hits the buffers. United had made an initial £35m offer including £8m worth of add-ons for the Everton defender.

Everton rejected that deal and want to receive around £70m instead. De Ligt is seen as potentially cheaper and more attainable.

Reds given Kvaratskhelia greenlight

Victory for Spain over Georgia could have also handed an opportunity for Liverpool to press ahead with their interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Napoli are intent on keeping the forward but reports have suggested he is unhappy at the Serie A club.

The 23-year-old - who helped his country to a first-ever knockout match with his goal against Portugal - confirmed last week that he would make his mind up on his future after the Euros in Germany.

The Georgia international has been subject to interest from Paris Saint-Germain, who reportedly failed in a whopping £110million bid. But it was reported that Kvaratskhelia was not keen on a move to Parc des Princes and would rather try his luck in the Premier League instead.

Liverpool still face competition for his signature from two unnamed Premier League clubs.

Man Utd face Ugarte competition

Manchester United have seen their bid to sign in-demand Uruguayan Manual Ugarte hamstrung by the player's agent.

Erik ten Hag sees the PSG man as a candidate who could fill the enforcer role that the assumed departing Casemiro will vacate, and the move would see him become the first signing under Sir Jim Ratcliffe's new regime.

However, it is the club's old rivals Liverpool who have been referenced by the player's agent when discussing what the future holds for the talented Ugarte.

Speaking to O Jogo, Ugarte's agent Jorge Chijane claimed: "Liverpool? There is a lot of talk but it is not the only club, there are others. There are many possibilities on the table."

Ugarte's agent added that his client will more than likely depart the French capital: "It's almost certain that he won't stay, it's sure he'll leave. I believe the situation will be resolved."

Ceballos to leave Real Madrid

Dani Ceballos could be on the move this summer, according to reports on the continent (via Football Espana). The Real Madrid midfielder, who spent two seasons on loan at Arsenal, is reportedly keen to leave the Spanish capital after seeing opportunities become limited.

The Spanish international was part of the Arsenal squad which won the FA Cup in 2020, scoring a crucial late winner against Sheffield United in the quarter-finals. Mikel Arteta kept him in North London for a second season, but no permanent move followed.

Instead, Ceballos returned to the Bernabeu and helped his team win the Champions League in an injury-hit 2021-22 season. He featured more regularly in the following campaign, but found minutes harder to come by last season as he failed to play a knockout minute in the competition.

Arsenal transfer demand

Mikel Arteta has been told by Piers Morgan to sign Spanish winger Nico Williams off his scintillating Euros display.

Morgan, who is a notoriously big fan of Arsenal, was just as wowed as every fan when watching Williams in action against Georgia in their Euro 2024 round of 16 tie on Sunday evening. The winger has been linked with a move to London rivals Chelsea, and has seen his stock soar after back-to-back eye-catching performances.

There was no beating around the bush when Morgan took to X on Sunday night on the back of Spain's impressive victory. He simply posted a picture of Williams captioned with: "Sign him," and tagged Arsenal boss Arteta.

Zirkzee convinced to join Man Utd

Manchester United have reportedly convinced Bologna and Netherlands striker Joshua Zirkzee to move to the club. The Red Devils had identified the forward as one of their prime targets.

But they faced competition for his signature. Premier League rivals Arsenal and Italian giants AC Milan were also interested in him. But it appears the Red Devils have stolen a march.

According to Corriere di Bologna, he is now primed for a move to the Premier League. It is suggested that they have convinced Zirkzee of a switch to Old Trafford and have reached an agreement with his agent Kia Joorabchian.

Inter chief clarifies Calhanoglu future

Inter president Beppe Marotta insists that the Italian side have not received any offers for Hakan Calhanoglu despite links with Bayern Munich.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, he said: “To be honest, we have not received any request, but we welcome Calhanoglu’s statement. We are proud that he has this great sense of belonging.”

Huddlestone retires

Former Man United and Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone has announced his retirement from football.

The ex-England international was most recently at Old Trafford in a player-coach capacity. He has announced his retirement in an emotional statement on social media.

Broja breaks silence on exit

Armando Broja has admitted he has options to leave Chelsea this summer.

Asked by RTV Klan what he would do if AC Milan made a bid for him, the Albanian forward replied: “I would tell him [Zlatan Ibrahimovic] first of all that I am a big fan of his; I have always liked him as a player.

"Milan is a great club, second only to Real Madrid in history. I would tell him that I have to speak to my agent and family, then I will let him know. It’s true, I have offers from these three championships (Serie A, Bundesliga, Premier League). Staying at Chelsea? It is an option; I still have a contract with them that expires in many years.”

Hummels eyed by Leverkusen

German icon Mats Hummels could be set for a shock move to Bayer Leverkusen.

That is according to German outlet Kicker, who suggest he could be on the move following his exit from Borussia Dortmund.

Leverkusen could be set to lose Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich, with Hummels seen as a potential replacement.

Rabiot quiet on future

Adrien Rabiot insists no decision has been made on his future despite being out of contract.

Speaking to reporters after France's 1-0 win against Belgium, he said: “I have not made any decisions yet. I don’t know what will happen, but I don’t want to talk about that.

“I think the fans understand I am focused on the Euros and we’ll see what happens later. My focus is 100 per cent here, then obviously I am also in contact with the club. I will decide after the European Championship.”

Sensi leaves Inter

Speaking of Leicester, their former target Stefano Sensi is leaving Inter Milan on a free transfer.

His contract is due to expire this summer. The Italian midfielder was on the verge of a move to Leicester in January only to see the deal collapse at the last minute.

Inter originally signed Sensi for £21m from Sassuolo.

Soyuncu seals permanent Fenerbahce move

Former Leicester defender Caglar Soyuncu has left Atletico Madrid in a permanent move to Fenerbahce.

The Turkish defender only joined Atleti last summer after the expiry of his contract in the East Midlands. But he saw opportunities limited before being loaned to Fenerbahce.

And the Turkish giants have paid €8.5m to keep him.

Birmingham close on Leonard

Birmingham are closing in on Scottish midfielder Marc Leonard’s £450,000 signing from Brighton.

Leonard impressed last season on loan at Northampton and Birmingham have identified the midfielder as they prepare for League One after suffering relegation from the Championship last season.

PSG sign Mary Earps

Sticking with Man United, they have lost the services of Lionesses goalkeeper Mary Earps.

She has joined French giants PSG on a free transfer following the expiry of her contract. Earps said: "Joining Paris Saint-Germain is a fantastic opportunity. I'm very honoured to become a Parisian and I can't wait to play alongside my new team-mates.

Together, we're going to give our all to help the club shine and make our fans proud. I'm determined to contribute to our future success so that Paris Saint-Germain continues to rank among Europe's top clubs."

Man Utd confirm Ashworth move

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has finally got his man - Dan Ashworth is a Man United employee.

The Red Devils confirmed his move in a joint statement with Newcastle. It read: “Newcastle United and Manchester United have reached an agreement for the immediate release of Dan Ashworth from his contractual obligations at Newcastle United. The terms of this agreement remain confidential between the clubs. Newcastle United thanks Dan for his services and wishes him well for the future.”

Southampton seal Taylor signing

After signing Taylor Harwood-Bellis earlier today, Southampton have added another Taylor to their ranks.

The Saints have announced the signing of defender Charlie Taylor following his exit from Burnley. He has signed a two-year contract.

He said: “I’m really excited. It just feels like the right fit. Everyone I spoke to about the club have only got great words to say. So excited and can’t wait to get started.

“We spoke briefly on the phone to begin with and straight away [Russell Martin] really impressed me. The way he talks about football is the way I like to see it too. Him being the manager was a massive pulling point.

“I feel as though it was too good an opportunity to turn down. Ever since I’ve come down here I’ve just had a good feel, surrounded by good people. It’s a huge club, back in the Premier League now. It’ll be a good experience for me.”

Villa secure Barkley deal

Ross Barkley is back in the Premier League after joining Aston Villa.

The former Everton, Chelsea and Luton midfielder has sealed a permanent move to the Midlands. He said: “For me, and everyone else at the club and the fans, [the ambition] is to win a trophy.

“The club came so close last season and were unfortunate. With additions to the already great squad that we’ve got it’s going to be pivotal for the season. Hopefully we can win a trophy.”

Barkley previously spent a season on loan with Villa earlier in his career.

Chelsea unveil Guiu

It might not be the first deal that Chelsea do today but the Blues have confirmed the arrival of striker Marc Guiu.

The youngster joins from Barcelona and has signed a five-year deal. Speaking after the news was confirmed, he said: "It's an immense joy to sign for Chelsea and I struggled to sleep ahead of the journey here because I was so excited.

"Ever since I was small, it was my dream to play in the Premier League. Now I have the opportunity to come here to Chelsea and I will work my hardest to be successful for the club."

Brentford sign Club Brugge striker

Brentford have sealed the signature of Club Brugge forward Igor Thiago.

The Brazilian was announced as a signing earlier this year, but the Bees have now formalised his arrival. He said: “I'm very happy to have signed for Brentford and to get to know the club.

“It’s an immense source of happiness for me, to be able to play for this club in the Premier League. I'm really looking forward to this moment. And I know, I'm sure of it, that it will be a great journey and a great season.”

Harwood-Bellis seals permanent move

Southampton have officially signed Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City.

The defender spent last season with the Saints on loan. There was an obligation to buy upon promotion.

And Harwood-Bellis has now penned a four-year deal with the club. Speaking after the news was confirmed, he said: “It’s no secret how much I enjoyed being here last season, so I’m delighted to officially become a Southampton player ahead of the new season."

Newcastle's Almiron to Saudi

The Magpies are reportedly in talks with a Saudi Pro League club over the sale of Miguel Almiron.

The Saudi transfer window opens today and Newcastle could be looking to offload the 30-year-old for a handsome price.

Almiron was a club record buy in 2019, joining from Atlanta United for £20m.

Newcastle have worked hard to keep themselves from breaching PSR, with Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh sold over the weekend and a deal agreed for Dan Ashworth to officially join Manchester United.

De Ligt price set

Bayern Munich have reportedly set a price tag of £42.4m (50m euros), plus add-ons, for Manchester United target Matthijs de Ligt.

United remain on the hunt for centre-back reinforcements, and with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite continuing to be held at a high premium, United are looking at other options.

De Ligt is one such alternative and the club are expected to approach Bayern over conditions of a possible deal.
