AMAZON has an amazing deal going on super-cheap Android phone, which is 43% cheaper than usual.
Right now shoppers can pick up the OnePlus 9 Pro for £169.90, down from £299.99.
Amazon has slashed the cost of the former flagship OnePlus 9 Pro by 43%OnePlus 9 Pro, £169.90 (was £299.99)
I'm guessing lots of shoppers hunting for a budget smartphone probably have their sights set on devices from bigger-hitters, like Apple, Samsung or Google.
OnePlus may be a lesser-known player in the marketplace - but this is actually a pretty remarkable asking price on a mid-range phone of this calibre.
Millions of Android owners could slash 'vampire bills' – how to save moneyThe first eye-catching thing is that it's the Pro in the range, meaning you get a handset that's bigger, has better cameras and is definitely slicker looking than the standard Pro 9.
In comparison to that standard mobile 6.55-inch screen, the 9 Pro has 6.7-inch screen.
(I own a Google Pixel 6 Pro, which has a screen of the exact same size, and I will tell you, I don't think I could ever go back to anything smaller. It's also been a good two years since my last eye test. Judge as you will.)
On top of that, the OnePlus 9 Pro has a higher-spec camera setup, with a 48-megapixel Sony IMX789 sensor that its smaller sibling doesn't have.
The tech comes from a partnership with Swedish camera-maker Hasselblad: much like Honor's recent collaboration with Parisian photography house Studio Harcourt, I'm forever fascinated seeing how these legacy brands are teaming up with up-and-coming phone manufacturers.
Then there's the cosmetics: the 9 Pro has a smaller bezel, and overall just has that general feel of a premium Android device.
The reason it's as cheap as it is lies, I think, in its age: the OnePlus 9 range hit the market back in 2021.
But honestly, if you're looking for a reliable phone at a seriously non-nonsense price, this is a real gem that's basically buried away on the Amazon website.
One shopper, who has already picked up the device, describes it as 'an absolute beast for the price'. (This review is 3 years old, so they would have paid full price.)
'Let me say, the display is absolutely stunning,' writes the same buyer. 'Sharp, beautiful colour production... Silky smooth video production.'
Millions of iPhone and Android phone owners must check settings immediatelyAnother customer says: 'Superb for the price... This is a 2-year-old [it's actually 3 years old] flagship that competes really well today. Top value if you get under £400.'
Right now, it's well under £400. Amazon has this marked as a limited-time deal so if you're keen, I'd advise you to act swiftly.
That said, this isn't the only standout SIM-free Android deal I've spotted on the website lately.
Last week, I covered a great discount on the Motorola Moto G84, which has dropped from £249.99 down to £179.
