FRENCH tennis ace Maxime Janvier just landed himself a house after securing a £100,000 payday following his Wimbledon qualification.

It was the first time Janvier - who is ranked world No.225 - qualified for the top grass major in south London.

And he did so with a victory over top qualifying seed and compatriot Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the final round.

In doing so Janvier was awarded a whopping £40,000 - and could set himself up for a tie against a top seeded main draw player come Monday.

The 27-year-old will also get further £60,000 even if he loses the first round.

If Janvier makes it to the second round of Wimbledon he'll land £93,000.

He went viral during his second round victory in two sets against Emilio Nava after screaming: "For the money, the money, that".

After achieving qualification in the final on Thursday, he screamed: "The house, the house!"

The £60,000 cheque on offer for a first-round participant can, for some, make or break their seasons, both on court and financially.

Outside of the four Grand Slams, players on the periphery can struggle to break even at times.

Janvier was one of four Frenchman who qualified on Thursday.

Hugo Gaston, Quentin Halys and Lucas Pouille also won their matches to progress.

Wimbledon qualifying does not take place at the site of the tournament.

In order to save the grass courts wear and tear ahead of the fortnight.

Instead, it takes place a few miles away in Roehampton at the aptly named Wimbledon Qualifying and Community Sports Centre.

Players on the periphery below the top-100 in the world were slugging it out for one of 16 spots at The Championships next week.

However, main draw players are permitted to practice on the Wimbledon court services.

How does a player qualify for Wimbledon?

The 112 top players, minus the number of wildcards, automatically qualify for Wimbledon.

A further 16 players qualify from the three-round qualifying tournament.

If players choose not to participate, players further down the rankings will qualify instead.

Seeded players automatically qualify for Grand Slam tournaments.
