Arne Slot, the newly appointed head coach of Liverpool, has been spotted enjoying a night out at a renowned restaurant in Merseyside.

The 45-year-old Dutchman, who will replace Jurgen Klopp next season, was seen dining at the Michelin-starred Moor Hall Restaurant in Aughton on Thursday evening, as first reported by the Liverpool Echo. The restaurant's head chef, Mark Birchall, shared a photo with Slot on the venue's official Instagram page, saying: "It was great to welcome Arne Slot to Moor Hall Restaurant yesterday."

Slot, who previously managed Feyenoord, was announced as the new Liverpool head coach on Monday when the club formally announced he would officially begin the position June 1, subject to being granted a work permit.

Slot will be the first Dutch head coach of Liverpool, and he has been receiving the lowdown on the club from his compatriot, Klopp's former assistant Pep Lijnders.

Lijnders has now departed the club along with many more of Klopp's staff, with the Dutchman becoming the head coach of Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg.

Speaking to The Athletic, Lijnders said: "I know Arne really well. He came to my house in Holland about nine years ago. He came to speak to me about football. He drove for a long time to see me and he had a thousand questions. I tried to answer them all!

“Since then, we’ve stayed in close contact. He’s an unbelievable coach, who knows exactly what he wants and has the experience to be at a club like Liverpool. There are similarities between Feyenoord and Liverpool. Their fans are so passionate. They also sing You’ll Never Walk Alone."

On Slot's prospects of success at Liverpool, Lijnders added: “You need a coach like Arne who is close to what we tried to do over the years, in terms of having the ball in the opposition half, pressing, counter-pressing - he’s very strategic in that point of view. He’s made good steps and now it’s the chance for him to make another big step.

“When I spoke with Mike [Gordon] and Jurgen, I said you need a young coach who can grow with this new team. Arne has everything in him to be a success here.”
