Sarmiento, 22, took to social media after starring in his nation's 3-1 win over Jamaica.

He singled out one bikini-clad fan in particular to thank them for their support, sharing a video of them to his page.

The mystery beauty was wearing an Ecuador-themed bikini, fishnet tights and football socks.

As a result, the supporter has been hailed as the "tricolour godmother" online.

And it seems her fame even reached the national team players, with Sarmiento's post paired with the video reading: "Really appreciate all of the support from our fans out at the Copa America."

However, fans online were stunned at the tweet, with one saying: "Thought this was a parody account."

A second said: "How have I only just seen this, fair enough. He’s one of us."

Another said: "Thanks for lending me your yacht Jeremy! The family had a great time. It was so nice of you to pay for a day out."

Sarmiento scored in his nations first game of the tournament against Venezuela, though the game ended in a 2-1 defeat.

He scored five goals in 40 appearances for the Tractor Boys in the Championship.
