Lindsay Lohan sat down with a Good Morning America reporter and dropped a bombshell about the return of one of her most cherished characters to the silver screen.

The star famously portrayed teenager Anna Coleman in the hit movie Freaky Friday, alongside Jamie Lee Curtis who took on the role of her mother, Tess. The plot revolves around Anna and Tess swapping bodies after cracking open a magical fortune cookie, leading them to experience life through each other's eyes.

Fans of the cult classic are buzzing with excitement as it's been confirmed that a sequel is in the works, over two decades since the original film's release in 2003. When probed about the upcoming project, Lindsay teasingly confessed she "can't say much."

"But I am taking guitar lessons and I do have a daughter in the movie," she revealed. Given that Anna was part of a rock band called Pink Slip in the first film, and Lindsay herself recorded the track 'Ultimate' for its soundtrack, it looks like Anna's rock 'n' roll spirit will be echoed in the sequel, reports the Mirror US.

Details about Anna's daughter in the upcoming film remain under wraps, leaving fans to wonder if Lindsay will step into the "mother to a teenager" shoes this time, akin to Jamie's role in the beloved original.

While chatting on GMA, Lindsay couldn't hide her affection for Jamie, confessing: "Jamie and I have stayed in touch over the years so it's kind of, you know, they always say that when you have a best friend or someone you're really close with if you cannot see them for years and years but when you see them again, it's like you never separated."

The buzz around the sequel reached fever pitch when Lindsay shared a snap with Jamie from the set earlier this week. She excitedly announced on Instagram : "The Colemans are back and coming to theaters in 2025! The sequel to Freaky Friday is now in production!"

Fans were quick to share their joy, with one commenting: "Greatest day of my life," while another added: ""Sooooo happy it's getting a theatrical release and not just streaming! These gals deserve it."
