LAURA WOODS managed to stay cool as she was attacked by midges ahead of England's Euro 2024 clash with Slovakia.

The ITV presenter was on the pitch in Gelsenkirchen for the round of 16 tussle.

Her colleague Mark Pougatch was on hand as the lead anchor back in the Berlin studio.

But Woods, 36, offered further coverage from the stadium.

In the centre circle ahead of the match, she provided a piece to camera alongside Karen Carney.

Introducing the segment, Woods said: "We've made our way into the centre circle.

"Vindaloo's been playing in the background, we're getting attacked by midges as well.

"But I have to say, the atmosphere in the stadium has really lifted now Kaz."

Ahead of the match, England suffered an injury scare.

Goalkeeper Jordan Pickford appeared to hurt his left wrist during the warm-up.

He was seen grimacing in pain as he sat on his knees.

Pickford then got back to his feet and was seen talking to a physio on a member of the England coaching setup.

The Everton stopper was hugged by deputy Aaron Ramsdale after the incident.

But he was able to shake off the injury to start the match.

England went on to scrape a 2-1 win against Slovakia.

Ivan Schranz had given Slovakia a first half lead, only for Jude Bellingham to equalise deep into stoppage time.

Harry Kane's extra time header then won it for the Three Lions, who will next face Switzerland on Saturday.
