GETAFE have announced that Mason Greenwood has been named their player of the season as his future remains up-in-the-air.

The 22-year-old left Manchester United on loan last summer after it was agreed he would be best trying to resurrect his career away from Old Trafford.

That was after he was been arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of a number of offences including attempted rape only for the the Crown Prosecution Service to subsequently drop the charges 13 months later when key witnesses withdrew and new material came to light.

The forward started the campaign in fine form and received the player of the month accolades from Getafe in both December and April.

Greenwood finished the season with eight goals and six assists from his 33 appearances and was a big fan favourite on the pitch.

Now he has been rewarded for his efforts by receiving their player of the season - with which several images of him posing with his award were shared by the club’s social media account today.

Despite them being desperate to keep him, Getafe do not appear to have the budget to sign him on a permanent basis.

Greenwood’s deal with United has 12 months left and they are wanting to offload him this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing in 2025.

Juventus are believed to have tabled a £40million bid for him earlier this month as a host of European teams chase him.

Valencia want him as well, while Lazio have opened talks over an initial £30m deal that would rise depending on performance related bonuses being met.

And French giants Marseille, who have just appointed Roberto De Zerbi as manager, are the latest club to show an interest.

Now Greenwood is weighing up all of his potential transfer options.

Some reports have claimed that the attacker has told Juventus that it is them who he wants to join.

The Italian side are able to offer him Champions League football after their third-placed finish in Serie A.
