Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have announced through a spokesperson that they are getting divorced - after 14 years of marriage. Their representative said: "Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing."
The couple, both 64 years old, married in 2010, but they had reportedly been together since 1997, and for 15 years they presented ITV's This Morning until they stepped back from the role in 2021. The pair have had their ups and downs throughout the course of their long relationship, and The Mirror breaks down the tumultuous course their marriage took, from their days as a TV power couple until they eventually grew apart.
The pair first met in 1997 and in a relationship that spanned decades they became a staple of British television, gaining a wealth of fans along the way, but things weren't always easy for the pair as life through challenges at them.
Hidden romance
The couple were reportedly first introduced by mutual friend Sally Meen whilst Eamonn was presenting GMTV in 1997. Two years earlier he and his first wife, Gabriella Holmes, had gone their separate ways, but despite clicking quickly with Ruth Eamonn kept their romance hidden for a long time, only publicly opening up about their relationship two years on.
Equally, the Mail reports that for a long time, Eamonn eschewed public displays of affection with Ruth - in an attempt to respect ex-wife Gabriella's feelings. In 2017, Ruth said that she didn't mind the secrecy one bit, "I thought it spoke volumes about the sort of man he was, the sort of father he was, and the integrity he had. It made me love him more, not less," she explained to the Daily Mail.

In 2002 - a year after they had gone public - the couple welcomed their son Jack into the world, who is the only child they share - although Eamonn has three older children with his first wife: Declan, 35, Rebecca, aged 33, and Niall who is 31 years old.
Three years later in 2005, Eamonn and Gabriella officially finalised their divorce.
Power couple on-screen and off
In 2006 the pair started hosting ITV's This Morning chat show, becoming a staple of British television. Whilst they found success on-screen their romance was also going from strength to strength, with Ruth previously telling the Mirror that "Eamonn is my biggest fan and always makes me feel really sexy," adding "When I think I'm at my slimmest, he thinks I'm too thin. He likes me curvy – he loves boobs, bottoms and legs. I'm really lucky because it would be awful to have a man who commented on me piling on the pounds".
They also have hosted How The Other Half Lives and Do The Right Thing With Eamonn And Ruth, together alongside a multitude of appearances on Celebrity Gogglebox.
Jealousy infused proposal
In 2009, after spotting some other men flirting with his long-term love, Eamonn was suddenly fuelled to propose to Ruth, she explained on Loose Women back in 2018. "We were at the races in a box with some people and I'd had a few drinks and had won a bit on the horses and was having a lovely time. Eamonn had gone out to the loo and when he came back, there were men in the box with us flirting and chatting to me, and he said: 'I don't like that them flirting with my wife.'
"And then he went: 'Actually, she's not my wife. She should be my wife.' We had been together 14 years by then. 'Why is she not my wife? Why haven't I done this?'"
Glamorous wedding day
The pair officially tied the knot in 2010 at a glam ceremony Elvetham Hall, Hampshire. Ruth donned a cream gown by Angelina Colarusso, which featured detailing of Swarovski crystals.
When Eamonn saw his bride-to-be walking down the aisle towards him he had to bite his lip to stop tears from falling, and the day was filled with showbiz guests like Christine Lampard and Holly Willoughby.
Health issues plague relationship
Eammon has suffered from some difficult health issues in recent years - and he explained earlier in the year on his social media accounts that "Hello there everybody, just to say that after nearly four months away off the telly, I'm back tomorrow. Sounds like a threat doesn't it! No, I mean you may or may not be aware of what happened to me, I had back surgery, I've had disc problems.
He added, later he had "some back surgery which affected one of my legs which led to me falling down stairs, which led to me breaking my shoulder. So I had a leg that didn't work and a shoulder that didn't work and lots of other things in-between but here I am."
'My wife said she'd stop seeing fella at work but I keep catching them at it'In a shock update recently, Ruth opened up about the strain this had taken over time, adding that they "don't know how much Eamonn's mobility will improve. We live in hope. He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100% right. With any care situation - and there are millions of carers in this country - it isn't always easy. It's testing but we manage as a family."
Speaking in Woman's Weekly about the importance of maintaining your health as you age, she added: "I look at Eamonn, who's had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is."
