So he decided to try and come up with a way of protecting them from the downpour.

He documented the process in a video on his TikTok page, as he began: "So I'm very worried because my peonies have literally just bloomed and the sky has gone like that.

"And I'm very concerned there's going to be heavy rain and and it's going to get rid of all the beautiful petals.

"So I'm going to build a shelter for it, using four bamboo sticks and the cover for the fire pit."

He then carefully positioned the bamboo sticks around the peonies, before using them to hold up the circular covering from his fire pit.

"Disaster averted!" he said, adding: "Although they keep sticking out!"

However, the video concluded by showing the rain bucketing down, while the flowers were nice and protected beneath the makeshift shelter.

"Disaster nearly averted," he captioned the video.

And the comments section was almost immediately filled with people praising Tom for sharing the hack.

"Sir, you're a genius!" one wrote.

"Great idea, they look beautiful," another added.

"Clever use of cover ...saved the day!" a third commented.

"That is such a good idea!" someone else praised.

"This is like posh Bear Grylls, but for flowers," another joked.

"I love this. The things we do to protect our petals!" someone else said.

"The newest member of the A Team!!" another called him.

"Too cute! My rock roses were squashed, your foresight is enviable," someone else sighed.

"That’s just the sweetest," another wrote.

"As Mother Nature mistreats them every year!"

"Well done Tom, Peonies are so beautiful well worth preserving," someone else said.

While another agreed: "It always happens!

"Every year those beautiful peonies flower you can bet there will be rain and wind!

"Good idea though!"
