MANCHESTER City flop Kalvin Phillips believes Barcelona 'fit him like a glove' as the mdfielder targets a shock transfer to LaLiga.

The 28-year-old has struggled for form and game time since leaving his boyhood club Leeds United in the summer of 2022.

He has played just 20 times this season.

Phillips began his campaign at the Etihad, making just 10 appearances, before joining West Ham United on a six-month loan.

But his time at the London Stadium was incredibly underwhelming.

A mistake on his debut against Bournemouth just three minutes in was quickly followed to being sent off away at Nottingham Forest.

He then featured in the Hammers’ 6-0 home loss to Arsenal, as well as being at fault for Newcastle’s winner in a 4-3 defeat for the East London followed in a disastrous five-month spell.

In the latter, he came on as a second-half substitute with David Moyes’ side leading 3-1.

He also gave away a penalty in the thriller.

His awful campaign has unsurprisingly seen Phillips fail to make Gareth Southgate’s squad for the European Championships in Germany this summer.

But according to the Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona are hoping to secure his signature.

It’s been revealed that the defensive midfielder ‘had given the OK to join the club in January', but due to their ongoing financial issues, no deal was ever completed.

It is thought the 31-cap England international believes Barcelona's style of football would 'fit him like a glove'.

City hope to sell Phillips permanently this summer, with Everton also interested.

However, it's been reported that the England man is leaning towards what would be a shock move to north Spain.

Barcelona, who have only won one LaLiga title this decade, have recently appointed German Hansi Flick as their new manager, following the sacking of club legend, Xavi.

An emotional return to boyhood club Leeds has also being mentioned.

But their failure to win promotion to the Premier League appears to have killed that move happening.
