As he looks towards his 50th birthday, Jamie Oliver has made a frank admission about the possibility of expanding his already sizeable brood.
The Naked Chef, who celebrated his 49th birthday on Monday, May 27, opened up about ageing and parenthood in a recent candid interview on The Chris Moyles Show, admitting that he's now the oldest parent within his youngest son's friendship group.
TV chef Jamie, who reckons he still feels like a twentysomething at heart, revealed: "And like, I can't age them. So you're sitting there talking to a parent, and then the references aren't quite keying in, and you're like, 'Dude, how old are you?' He’s like, '32'."
He added: "I'm like, 'damn, man. I'm like 16 years or whatever it is older than you'. But the music references are all different, the bike references are all different, the fashion references are all different. But you know, it's all good. I'm still alive!"
When it comes to having more kids, however, it looks as though the dad of five might be done in that particular department...
Jamie Oliver reveals his cupboard essentials that will save you moneySharing his plans for his big 5-0, Essex-born Jamie told Chris that he plans on having multiple celebrations to mark the milestone, and intends to use it as an opportunity to thank those who've made a significance difference in his life.
Jamie reflected: "Nah, I want to have several dos. I want to rinse it, and also, I think that reflective point, which I wasn't very reflective for a long time until, like, 25 years since The Naked Chef, which was sort of this year actually. But I've got so many people to thank for everything, you know. Obviously, since the conception – mum and dad. You know, I've just been so lucky to work with lovely people. And I think it's a nice moment, everything still works. I can still function."
In response, Chris retorted: "Well we know that, you've got 12 kids!", to which Jamie admitted: "Yeah, I think I probably need that operation!"
Jamie and wife Jools, also 49, welcomed their eldest two daughters in the early '00s, with Poppy Honey Rose, arriving first in March 2002, followed by Daisy Boo Pamela in April 2003, just over a year later.
After a six-year break, the proud parents then welcomed their third daughter Petal Blossom Rainbow in April 2009, followed by their two sons Buddy Bear Maurice, and River Rocket Blue Dallas, born in September 2010 and August 2016 respectively.
Opening up to You magazine in August 2019, Jamie revealed he'd found parenting teenagers particularly tricky, remarking: "They should have something like The Priory for parents of teenagers. It's really tough, isn't it? I'm not sure how good my teenage parenting has been. I think I'm still on a six or seven out of ten from my girls. Which I'm fine with.
"I know I was a good nine or even ten [when they were] younger, I mean, what does a nine look like as a parent of teenagers? Does that mean you go clubbing with them?"
