Jurgen Klopp was in stitches after John Bishop joked about his wife Ulla Sandrock.

The now-former Liverpool boss was given a final farewell on Tuesday in a special event at the city's M&S Bank Arena. An Evening with Jurgen Klopp was hosted by comedian Bishop and journalist Peter McDowall.

Klopp reflected on his time in charge during a Q&A session, describing his decision to move to Merseyside as one of the best he's ever made - second only to marrying Ulla back in 2005 when he was manager of Mainz.

He said: "I will miss mainly people. It's the people sitting up there, friends, the people I've worked together with closely for eight-and-a-half years. We all will miss it, my whole family will miss it.

"It was just - the decision to come to Liverpool was definitely, besides getting married to Ulla, the best decision of my life. It was unbelievable. Now she will cry."

After a round of applause from the packed-out crowd, Bishop saw his opportunity to joke about the popularity of his other half. "Well to be fair, if you decide to leave Ulla I don't think you'll sell out an arena tomorrow," he quipped.

Klopp burst into laughter, clearly caught off guard by the comment. Ulla endeared herself to the locals throughout their stay in Liverpool.

She gave time, effort, and money to the community, which included making a "substantial" donation to the Formby Community Football Club during the pandemic in 2020, helping to facilitate deliveries of food and medicine.

Ulla also handed out £1,000 worth of food vouchers to staff at a Waitrose shop in Formby as a thank you for their work. And she even got supporters on side before Klopp put pen to paper at Anfield.

She convinced him that the Manchester United job wasn't the right move for him all the way back in the 2013/14 season. What's more, she was the one who wanted to stay when he signed his 2022 contract extension.

The fans in attendance on Tuesday showed their appreciation for her by replacing Klopp's name with hers in the chant sung to the tune of Live is Life by Opus. They've now flown out of England and returned to Marbella, where Klopp is taking an extended break from football.
