As vital as skincare is when it comes to tackling anti-ageing, there are some things that even the best laid skincare routine can’t correct. One of those things is drooping eyelids which can begin to sag over time as the levator muscle, which holds up your lids, stretches and weakens with age.
Although a great eye cream can go someway towards putting off when that happens, usually the only way to completely correct sagging lids is a surgical eye lift. However, former The Only Way is Essex star Lydia Bright has found an amazing product that gives the same results as an eye lift without the need for surgery; the Contours Rx Lids by Design Eyelid Lift Strip, (was £34.47), on Amazon.
Lydia shared a video of herself trying out the eyelid strips on her TikTok, in which she can be seen carefully using a pair of tweezers and her fingers to position the strips on her eyelids. After applying the Lids by Design strips, she uses the flat edge of the tweezers (which are included in the set) to ensure it’s smooth, before allowing it to stick to where her lid naturally folds, giving here eyelid an instant lift.
To use the strips you need to start with clean, dry skin, so make sure you don’t have any residual eye cream or serum on your lids. You want to make sure you place the strip on the inner corner of your lid where the crease starts and continue to follow the line across to help erase how visible it is.
Contours Rx does recommend that practice makes perfect when it comes to applying the strips, so don’t be disheartened if you don’t get it quite right the first time. You can also choose from several different widths ranging from 4mm to 8mm, so you can pick the size you need depending on how dramatic you want the difference to be and how large the lid area and crease is.
Amy Childs prepared to get cruelly mum-shamed after big decision about her twinsAlthough Lydia’s followers said they couldn’t see much of a difference, Amazon shoppers were much more enthusiastic about the results. One said: “They actually work! A bit fiddly at first but with a little patience and practice got success. Glad I bought the assorted sizes as now know the best one for the future. Thought price was a little high but now I know they work and the amount of strips in the pack them ok.”
Another wrote: “I was quite surprised by the difference these strips made to my eyes. I’m 70 years old so my eye lids are very hooded. I went for the 7mm size as needed the maximum lift, I could have bought the 8mm but plumped for the 7mm size and it really did the trick and made my eyes look far more open. They are comfortable to wear and stick very well. I thought they would be difficult to use but I found them easy to use.”
If you prefer more of a serum-style fix, or find your under eyes tend to be more of a problem area for you, the StriVectin Tighten & Lift Hyperlift Eye Instant Eye Fix, (was £38), has also been praised for giving instant temporary results. The treatment was created to instantly tighted under eye bags and lines and to eliminate the crepey texture that can develop with age.
It has a leave-on formula that you simply need to dab onto your under eye area with your fingertips, and try and maintain a neutral, expressionless face whilst it dries. Once set, it creates an invisible support system for eye bags and lines, without leaving a visible residue.
