Chelsea's Djordje Petrovic has hailed Benjamin Sesko as a player who "has everything" to make it big in the Premier League.

The RB Leipzig striker is tipped to make a move to England's top tier this summer, with both Arsenal and Chelsea showing keen interest. However, the Mirror understands Mikel Arteta's team are now leading the race for the Slovenia international.

Petrovic, who stepped up as Chelsea's main goalkeeper after Robert Sanchez got injured last season, is confident that whomever lands Sesko will be acquiring a high-quality player. The 24-year-old stopper kept tabs on Sesko after learning of the Blues' interest and has assured he would be a sure-fire success if he completes a major move this summer.

The Serb star is expected to represent his country at Euro 2024 this summer and singled out Sesko as a significant threat from Group C opponents Slovenia. Speaking to Nogomania (via football.london), Petrovic said: "I know [about the Chelsea rumours] and have been following him. He's having a good half-season, he's in great scoring form. I read that he's scored in his last seven matches in a row. He seems to have gained strong momentum for the Euros.

"He's a forward who has everything a modern player needs. He's tall, strong, fast and intelligent. I've watched some of his matches. Of course he can play in the Premier League. Absolutely! He has great potential and he's been successfully proving it in recent months."

Sesko, 21, initially struggled to find his feet after leaving Red Bull Salzburg to join Leipzig for around £20million last summer. However, he ended the season with an impressive tally of 18 goals in 42 games across all competitions, cementing his place as the youngest player to score in seven consecutive Bundesliga matches.

Arteta often found himself experimenting up front due to Gabriel Jesus' injuries last term, deploying players like Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard as false nines to lead Arsenal's line. Chelsea also continue to be associated with striker bids, despite Nicolas Jackson hitting a consistent vein of form towards the end of his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere, Manchester United and Newcastle have also been touted with interest in Sesko, whose agent, Elvis Basanovic, was spotted at Old Trafford in May. But it looks like the path may be clear for Arsenal – the only interested Premier League club able to offer Champions League football – with the young starlet up for grabs for £45m.

Since signing with Salzburg at the tender age of 16, towering 6'5" Sesko has consistently impressed and met every challenge thrown his way. However, the Premier League remains just about the toughest proving ground for young imports.

Gareth Southgate and England will also face off against the Slovenian sensation this summer when they meet in the group stage of Euro 2024. The two teams are set to conclude their Group C campaigns against each other on June 25, by which point Sesko may already have some new club team-mates lining up opposite him.
