A 19-year-old man has died after he was critically injured when a tree fell on his car during Storm Eowyn.
The teenager was injured while driving a blue Ford Focus on the B743 in Mauchline, East Ayrshire, at about 6.45am on Friday.
He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment but sadly died yesterday.
Sgt Chris McColm of Police Scotland’s road policing unit said: Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.’
The man, who is the second person to be killed in the storm, has yet to be named.
An amber weather warning was in place in that area at the time, which was upgraded to a red warning just over three hours later.
It comes after 20-year-old Kacper Dudek died in Ireland when a tree fell and killed him.
He was on the phone to his father and trying to drive to safety when his car was crushed beneath a tree which was uprooted in record-breaking 114mph winds.
