Love Island star Danny Bibby revealed his car exploded into flames while he was driving his ’dream car’, a McLaren 720S, at 30 miles per hour
Love Island star Danny Bibby narrowly escaped death after his supercar burst into flames while he was driving.
The 28-year-old said he was driving his McLaren 720S, worth around £220,000, at 30mph when the back end of his ’dream car’ burst into flames. The star rushed out to get the fire extinguisher, but the entire car soon ’exploded in his face’. He shared videos of his car, engulfed in flames, onto his Instagram Stories as he tried to make light out of the situation.
Along with a video of the back end of his car on fire, he wrote: "’Have you got anything to put that out with?’ Ye mate here, just letting it burn to the ground for a laugh innit." In another video where the flames doubled in size, he wrote: "Mate imagine my nephew was still with me wow."
After receiving hundreds of concerned messages from fans, Danny filmed a video from the back of a car as he explained what happened. He said: "I was just driving about 30mph and then next minute the car changed gear and the back end was on fire. I pulled over, ran to the fire extinguisher."
He added: "As I’m putting the fire extinguisher, the car exploded in my face and basically I just had to sit and watch my dream car just burn to the ground and everyone just sat there and watched it. Pretty sad, but... Obviously, it’s a set back. I’m trying to switch it into a positive. I’m trying to see the positive in it but I’m not quite sure what that is yet. But it’s happened for a reason but I don’t know why as yet."
Danny also filmed the firemen extinguishing the massive flames, which consumed the car until there was barely anything left. "Sound, that mate," he said as he showed fans the remnants of his car. "F**king nice one." Fans rushed to the comment section to share their relief over his safety.
"Wow! You’re so lucky!!!! So sorry to see this though, hope you’re ok!," one user said while another added: "Cars come and go, life doesn’t. Be glad you safe." One fan commented: "Dammm , be thankful for life it’s just things at the end of the day," with many others sharing the same sentiment.
Danny found fame on Love Island in 2021 but has made his living from running his own men’s fragrance and clothing line.
