A DRIVER has vowed to "go back to petrol while there is still time" - revealing he had ditched his £65k electric car after facing a string of problems.
Giles Coren revealed he forked out for the all-electric Jaguar I-PACE in 2020 - but had become so frustrated with the vehicle he was planning to sell the car as soon as possible.

Writing in the Times, he said: "The cars are useless, the infrastructure is not there and you’re honestly better off walking.

Despite his contempt for electric cars, their momentum is growing.
In the UK, more than 265,000 battery-electric cars were registered in 2022, a 40% hike from 2021.
However, Coren is unwavered.
He's reached a threshold of electrical engine mishaps - and is relishing a return to petrol as soon as he can.
He said: "It has spent more time off the road than on it, beached at the dealership for months at a time on account of innumerable electrical calamities, while I galumph around in the big diesel “courtesy cars” they send me under the terms of the warranty.
